Sorry Dom, I do not understand what you mean, can you explain again what you mean. Where is the 'sound field' and what do you mean by 'main window' and (under "Main image" and "Comment") ? Ron UPDATE: OK I have worked out what you mean now and have removed the path to the sound file. BUT, I now notice that there is a distinct 'jerk' when each page changes.

Mike, have you considered using 'Yousendit' instead of Mediafire? Ron

Hi Dom, Yes this new version is much improved. I like the inclusion of 30 pictures in the template and also I like the fact that the image is now presented almost 'Full Screen' on the monitor. The pages now turn in a much smoother way. The one thing that I am NOT keen on, is the sound of the pages turning - how can this be removed? Ron Ron West

High Definition from a PTE slide show
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
Hello Potwnc, (Ray) Your DVD arrived today and it played OK on my Blu Ray player. The quality is excellent, much better that a normal DVD burned with either PTE or Nero. Thankyou for taking the time to produce this HD-DVD for me. You have inspired me to experiment with the burning of High Definition DVD's and at the moment I am testing some of my own. I create an HD AVI file using PTE, I then burn this as an AVCHD disc using Nero version 8. So far my results have been very good but I feel that they will get better once I have mastered all the varios settings. Thanks again for all your help and encouagement. Ron West -
Mike, your 'notice board' demo looks great. Perhaps Don (when he returns) will have some suggestions on ho9w to remove the 'jump' as each picture zooms/rotates up. Meantime, do you propose publishing this early beta as a Template? Ron

High Definition from a PTE slide show
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
I have been told that the new version of Nero (version 8) will convert HD files made with PTE, into AVCHD and that this can then be burned as a Blu Ray format DVD. Does anyone know if this claim is correct? Ron -

Using Copyrighted Music in PTE presentations
Ronniebootwest replied to kstittel's topic in General Discussion
The laws relating to the use of copyright material are very well documented, the simple rule is this, 'Yoy cannot use it unless you have permission from the author' this means that you will need to purchase a licence. There is also a difference between 'Copyright Free' and 'Royalty Free' so please do some homework and get some proper advice before plunging in at the deep end because if you do use music that is subject to a copyright, you could end up in a very expensive legal action. An excellent source for music that can be freely used in your slide shows is the Beckam Digital web site Here: Ron -
Hello Peter, first off let me say that your post has certainly been well thought out and presented and, in the main, I agree with what you say. However, I doubt very much that manu people will want to go to all that trouble just to make a sequence of images, it is far too long winded. The majority of slide shows these days are simply individual images set to music and it is very rare to see an audio visual sequence made as you describe it. (have you posted one of yours? I would like berfy much to see it). I totally agree with your comments about using tailor made software to manipulate material needed to create a slide show, i.e an image editor for tweeking images and a sound editor for creating sound files, adding these features to PTE would simply overload it and degrade it to the low standard of other software on the market. Igor, and his team, have created a top rate program that deals with the presentation of images this program is currently 'top of the heap' as far as I am concerned. It would be a great pity if this standard were to be reduced by adding options that would never be able to compete with the likes of Photoshop or Audition. So, I agree with you - let well alone! From a purely photographic standpoint, why have you chosen to use sRGB - this colour space is very limited when compared to Adobe RGB. Have you set your camera to sRGB as well? I find that I get much more realistic coloure with the RGB colour space. Ron

High Definition from a PTE slide show
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
Hi Dennis, Yes I have a HD 42 inch TV. I subscribe to SKY and pay for the HD channels and the quality of high definition is stunning - much better than an exe file made with PTE. For this reason I am trying to better the exe quality by making a 'Blu Ray' disc. Ron -
High Definition from a PTE slide show
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
Hello Dennis, Yes I already play the normal .exe shows on TV and I also create normal DVD's via 'Videobuilder' and they are very good. However, I am just experimenting with HD so that I can determine if the quality will improve over and above .exe's when played via a 'Blu Ray' player. Ron -
High Definition from a PTE slide show
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the replies so far. It does seem that this is a whole new can of worms though. I was hoping that it would be relatively easy to create a high definition disc but it seems that is not the case. I have looked at the software from Sony (Vegas) as suggested by Ray but it looks to be much to complicated and expensive just for making an HD slide show. All I want to do really is make a PTE Slide show and then burn it to a DVD that is in High Definition and will play in HIGH DEFINITION via a Blue Ray player. Ray seems to be very close to doing this and I will watch his progress with great interest. Ray, do I have to use special 'HD' VD discs or will the normal discs be OK? Ron -

Igor, Yes, this change will make things much easier for all of us. -
I have been trying to create a DVD in HD format to play on my HD television but am failing miserably. I have read most of the threads on the Forum but am now so totally confused that my head is spinning. Let's go back to the basics with the following questions:- 1. Can PTE (via the 'create AVI' option) create a HD file? 2. If an AVI file is created, how can this be burned in HD format? 3. Can it be done using Nero or must it be Pinnacle Studio (Version 9)? Finally, has anybody actually succeeded in making a HD DVD? If so, do you need to have a HD DVD player in order to play it? A very confused Ronnie!
