Hi Mike, Are you able to email me a copy of this converter, with appropriate suggestions for using it please? Ron

Hello Brian, I would like to offer you my best wishes for the future success of your ne web site. It sounds very interesting and I will be having a look around later on today - may even post a couple of things, you never know. All the best! Ron West UPDATE: I just tried to log on to your web site but the page is unobtainable. Is something wrong?

I know that many members of this forum have made good use of this envelope effect and I am not surprised because it really is very good. However, the standard template only caters for 10 postcards and I want to add more. I have read the instructions that came with the original download but I just do not understand the process that Dom explains. I wonder if anyone has actually been able to add more cards to the template, if so, perhaps you could explain just how you did it please. Ron

2600 slides in a slide show is expecting far to much from an audience not only from the computer system. Ron

I signed up to U-Tube sometime ago and even uploaded a few of my slides shows. I was very disappointed with the quality and size of the output and even more disappointed with the responses received. Try it for yourself though because I am a grumpy old so and so. Ron

Music Sync Problem / wav. vs. mp3 / Large File?
Ronniebootwest replied to jvplap@charter.net's topic in General Discussion
The downside to using the 'auto spread' option is that all slides in the show will have an equal display time and this means that if you include a slide that had introductory text, for example "At the Reception", this slide will be displayed for an equal period of time as the remaining slides. Clearly, such a slide would need only about 2 seconds and not the usual 7 seconds or so. Ron -
Hi Igor, The 'Links' page on my website (Visit My Website) has always had a link where you can download Pictures To Exe). If you would like me to make any changes, I am very happy to do so. Ron West

Hi Neil, The answer is NO! A EULA is not really required if you only intend to give your slide show to friends/family/forum members but if there is any possiblity of your show falling into the wrong hands and then copied (or the images it contains) then a EULA would be useful in order to help protect your interests. Ron

This question of copyrite has always been a thorny subject and confuses most people. Brian has, as usual, provided an elequent explanation but I do feel that a more detailed article would be useful. Some many month ago now, Brian assisted me with creating a EULA (End User Licence Agreement) that I still use to this day. It need not be an elaborate EULA, indeed mine is very short and to the point and the software for creating it is available on the internet from the 'Click Team' - I can't remember the URL but I am sure Brian will know it. It is well worth reading up on this subject because it is becoming more and more essential to thos of us who create slide shows. For example, the belief that you can use music from your own CD's without charge, is false. Ron

I have also noticed that, when attempting to copy an entire slide show, the music is not copied, you have to add this separately. Ron

Good to know this Igor, but where do we find the URL for this decompiler please? Ron

UPDATE: I have now found a very nice little trolley that solves all my problems. It is called an 'Insert Trolley' and is available from here: http://www.fotosense.co.uk/shop/Kata_Bags/...3169&tabID= It is small light and collapsible and works just perfectly. Ron.

I have received an email notification that a new member would like some advice on how to add my 'Opening Sequence' to a slide show. Unfortuneately the link is not working so I cannot reply to this member. All I know is that her name is DEBI. If you are reading this would you please send me your email address and I will certainly help you with any problems you are having. Thankyou for your very kind words about my pdf tutorials. Ron. The sentements expressed here are wonderful and a lot of forum members will be able to relate to them. I agree wholeheartedly with you Judy. I find some of the statements made by the 'professionals' hard to understand sometimes. A slide show should always be fun to the producer and if that same slide show receives praise from others, then that is a bonus. Judy if you, your family and friends enjoy your slide shows, then you have achieved your goal. I reckon that you are underselling your ability, please post one of your shows on Beechbrook so we can see what you have done. Ron

This question of copying slides from a PTE slide show has been raised so many times now. The short answer is that there is no real way of preventing anyone from copying your pictures. It can be done with any of the many 'screen capture' progtrams availble on the internet. Just keep your image size low, e.g. 72 res and then any copies made will not be of a high enough quality to print well. You could place a copyrite symbol on each image, if you are really concerned. See my website for a free tutorial on how to do this. Ron.

I am finding it difficult to follow your instructions here, doesn't seem to work for me. Can you provide a more detailed 'step by step' sequence please? Ron

Have you saved the PTE Project before you try to burn the DVD?

Barry, Sorry mate, £500 won't cut it Its not the weight of the camera so much (I hade a 1D Mark II before so I am aware of the weight) it is more that all the gear together, e.g. camera, spare back-up body, 2 lens, tripod, Flash, bag etc when all combined take a lot of room and make it quite difficult to get the shots. By the way, I will consider giving you 50p for each of your tutorials, based on your above offer. Ron

I need to replenish my photo stocks in order to make more PTE Slide Shows but I recently upgreded my camera and associated lens to a Canon. I now find that I need some help with carrying all the gear around. Can anyone point me to a web site link where I can get a 'two wheel trolly' that is purpose made for carrying photographic gear around? I am in the UK, so it would be helpful if this equipment was available in this country, although it is not essential. Ron

Hi Ken - I'm not hiding, just that the weather is so good at the moment (temporary I am sure) that I have been out and about with my new camera (Canon 1Ds Mark II) Peter, Yes I did make a pdf on 'How to create a one page menu' I got over the problem with the flashing back to desktop, by simply making sure that as each slide show finishes, it returns to the menu. I did this in version 4 and again in version 5 and it all works for me now. Visit the tutorial page on my website and download the tutorial (it is FREE). Ron

Hi Barry, The new avatar (picture) looks good mate! (or is that your son?)

Bruce, My mistake, you are right it is 'EmptyDesk'. This old Limey's eyes don't work like they used to, sorry about the confusion. Ron

Click on the 'download' link, on the left hand side of the page and then you will see it listed in the 'Quick Menu' which is on the right side of the page. Both programs are there, i.e. Pixresizer and Cleardesk Ron

Hello again Jenni, I had another thought about your desktop problem. If you do want to clear the icons from your desktop so that you have a 'blank page', you might like to take a look at this little program called 'Cleardesk' from Bluefive Software. It allows you to completely clear all icons (including the Recyle Bin) temporarily and then click another button and the icons will all re-appear. Nifty! and it is FREE. You may find a use for it. Download it here:

Hi Jenni, I saw an article once, written by Maureen Albright, that seemed to deal with this problem by creating a blank desktop so that when the slide show ended it faded to this 'Blank Desktop' instead of all the usual icons. It may well be what you are looking for. The article is called 'Clear the Decks' and can probably still be downloaded from Maureens web site Here: Failing that, contact her by email here: Here
