  1. I can't see the point in doing this, might as well us a blank slide as first and last slide.
  2. So pleased to hear that you are back in harness and rearing to go again. I hope that you enjoyed your holiday - maybe you took some photo's that we can all see soon. Ron West
  3. Hi Fred, Your system sounds like a good one and is probably easy to do. I have been asked by a number of people if I could produce a pdf tutorial on something similar but, hey! why re-invent the wheel. I wonder if you could email me a brief step by step on just what you do and I can then write it up for those members who are interested. My email: Ron West
  4. Hello Brian, It is encouraging to see that you are still active with helping others with computer security. I well remember your valued assistance a couple of years ago, when you taught me how to protect my computer. I have changed computers twice since, but always make a point of installing the protection programs you advised me to use. Touch wood! I have not had any problems yet with viruses, trojans etc. I think a lot may be down to my following your good advice. Ronnie West
  5. There are quite a few (free) pdf tutorials available for download on my Web Site. You are very welcome to visit me there. Ronnie West
  6. I agree with everything that Lin has said, in particular about adding a copyright notice to your images. There is a useful (free) tutorial on how to do this, on my website. Ron
  7. Hi Lin, Why do you always allow the full topic to be re-pasted when you reply to a post? It does take up a lot of space and makes things more difficult to follow the complete thread. Can I suggest that you use the 'Add Reply' method at the bottom of the page. Ron
  8. A number of members have reported that the Email Link on my website was not working when they tried to contact me about the tutorials that they wanted to download. I have corrected the problem now and the link is working fine. Sorry about that, it was my own mistake. Thankyou to all those who took the time to tell me about this problem. Ron
  9. Hi Dom, As usual, an excellent demo of how to use to 'The Watch'. Are you going to produce a Template for this? Ron
  10. Hi Lin, Panos sent me a copy of his 'Watch' actions a few weeks ago and I have made good use of it. Now that you have animated it, the whole thing takes on a completely different dimension. Your demo is brilliant and I just can't wait to follow your pdf tutorial on this one. Thanks are to due to both yourself and to Panos for a brilliant piece of work. Ron West
  11. Hello Gilbert, First of all, I am sorry that you have had difficulty in contacting me via my web site email link. I will take a look at that and see what the problem is. I suspect that it is still linked to 'westtraining' and I stopped using that some time ago. Please contact me using the following: ronniebootwest@ntlworld.com and I will help you with your problem.
  12. Hello Buttons, You might like to know that I made a tutorial for The Dom's Photo Album that shows you how to use it and change the standard frame to a textured one. You can download it from the tutorials page on my web site (Free). Best wishes, Ron
  13. Ralph and Fret3, Both of the suggestions work now. I do like the easy option of CTRL+V. It was my own fault, I was copying from project 1 and then opening another session of PTE - silly me! Ron
  14. Ralph, I am trying to follow your instruction to Copy & Paste from one PTE Project to another but it does not work for me. I copy a group of slides in the slide list of project 1, then open project 2 but when I right click in the slide list, the 'Paste Slide' option is grayed out. Am I missing something? Also, is it possible to combine two projects together? Ron
  15. I have tried to merge 2 project and, so far, have failed to find a way of doing it. I am very interested to know if it is possible and will watch this thread closely. Ron
  16. What is going on here? There are many good written tutorials available that deal with PTE. I started writing pdf tutorials a while ago and I aimed them specifically at the beginner. From the responses I have had, I know that these tutorials have been much appreciated. I do not agree with you Barry (Beckham) that witten tutorials are of no use, on the contrary, a lot of people prefer the written word over video because watching a video always means that you will have to make your own scribbled notes (and that surely defeats the object). Before anyone takes seriously your suggestion that written stuff is not very good, I suggest that any interested members (who have not yet done so) download just one of my pdf tutorials and see for yourself - then make up your mind about whether you want a FREE written tutorial or would prefer to pay from £15 to £20 for a video version. There is room for any type of tutorial, whether it is written or spoken! Ron
  17. It is good to see that Barry Beckham is getting 'plugs' for his tutorials - thay are very good. However it is a pity that other members of this forum don't get more of a mention, e.g. Tom Court, Lin Evans, Al Robinson, Ron West an so on. These members provide (Free of charge) tutorials of a very high standard and need to be encouraged if such tutorials are to continue. I have considered putting all of the pdf tutorials, that I have produced, onto a CD and selling it for £10 but I know from experience that such a CD would NOT attract any buyers because people will NOT usually pay the price, so what would be the point? For those who would like to download some free tutorials, please visit my web site and go to the 'Tutorials' page. Visit My Website
  18. Hello Peter, I do not understand why Igor is saying that mp3pro is incompatible - I have been using it for over a year now with absolutely no problems. I produce mp3pro files for broadcasting and find that the quality is perfect (mp3 always sounds 'tinny' with a total lack of bass sound). Ron
  19. Roger, What software are you using to create your mp3 files? I use Audition and encode to mp3pro at 320 bit/44100 and do not have any problems. Ron
  20. I used to put my pdf tutorials on the Dom's web site (I beleive that a couple are still there) but recently I decided to host them all on own web site. If you visit the site, you will find many tutorials on the 'Tutorials Page'. Visit My Website
  21. Currently I use both Video Builder and Nero but I have to admit that Video Builder has the edge. It is easier and faster and. in my opinion, gives much better quality especially when burning a wide screen DVD. For the extra 20 dollars, it is well worth the money so go for it. Ron West
  22. Lin, This is a very impressive document and is expertly written. I know only to well just how much time you have spent on this. All members of this forum owe you a great big vote of thanks for the work you have done. Many, many thanks for your hard work. Ron West
  23. Hello Freddy, Sharpening is an area where you will always get conflicting advice because there are so many different ways of doing it - the unsharpen method in Photoshop is certainly not the best. However, whenever you resize an image downwards, you are always 'throwing away' some of the pixels in the image and this will reduce the image quality, so some small amount of sharpening is always desireable. If you 'over sharpen' the image you will always introduce a pronounced shimmering effect of thge image - especially when panning or zooming in PTE. As a general rule, sharpen as little as possible, so if your images look good without any sharpening, then leave them alone. Ron
  24. Hi Lin, Your 2 examples were great. You have managed to change the size of your image so that they fill the screen, which is exactly what I have been unable to achieve so far. You will notice that when my filmstrip 'pauses' the end of the previous image and the beginning of the next image is visible - I would prefer just the whole of the centre image to be displayed but the dimensions of the image are obviously set to mimick 35 mm film and I don't know how to change this in the 'action'. jfa has suggested that it would be a good idea to zoom in and then out of each image when it is paused, I think that might work but am unsure of how to set the points on the timeline to achieve this. Ron
  25. Wideangle, Excellent idea and an interesting variation on my 'Filmstrip'. Perhaps you would let me know just how you achieved this transition effect. Email me if you prefer (ronniebootwest@ntlworld.com) Ron
