Hi Glenys, Keith is quite correct in what he says! Both versions will run happily on the same computer but you must install them in separate folders, e.g. One folder called 'Version 4.48' and another called 'Version 5 Beta8u'. I use both either independently or by mixing them both together. Ron

Brian, Yes you can edit the music, most of us use a music editor like 'Audacity or 'Adobe Audition' the latter being very expensive but an excellent piece of software. Audacity, on the other hand, is FREE and can be downloaded from Here: Ron

Hi Bob, You should have no real difficulty in producing a DVD with PTE beta 8u using the Video builder, but because of your limited time scale I reckon that you will be better off just sending the slide show .exe file (providing that your recipient has a computer to play it on because it will not play on a DVD player) You can easily 'zip it up' and either send via 'Yousendit' or burn it to a CD and use good old 'snail mail' (Post). Another thing to be aware of, is that a PTE.exe file will be much better quality than you will get from a DVD player. Ron West

The next beta (9) will cure help with this problem because the option to 'Synchronise music to slide show' will be added (we hope) Ron

Hello everyone, I am currently compiling a 'Group Listing' in Outlook Express with the sole intention of sending a copy of my pdf tutorials to all interested members. If you would like to receive a copy of all future tutorials as I make them, please send me an email with the following details typed in the body of the message: 1. Full Name 2. email address and I will add you to the group. Ron West Update: There has been an amazing response to this offer and, so far, I have added 65 names to my group list. I will be sending out a new pdf (making a frame for use in PTE) in the next couple of days. Let me know if you get it OK please.

Ronwil is right, I agree with him! Let's get version 5 up and running before we start introducing any new features. There is littl point in having 'bells and whistles' at the expense of the great image quality that PTE currently gives us. Ron West

JPD, I am sad to hear this news. Please take care and get well again soon. We are all thinking of you. Ronnie West.

Can you create an Introduction before a DVD Menu
Ronniebootwest replied to mightec's topic in General Discussion
Lumenlux, I think that you are correct. I can see the point you are making about the DVD menu setup, it is exactly what I do. When I make my DVD (in Video Builder) I always add my 'intro' as the first slide show, then I add the remaining slide shows. As long as you set the option to 'return to menu after each slide, it will always return to the DVD menu after the intro sequence. Then all I do is select the next slide show (not necessarily in sequence). Is this what you are meaning? Ron -

Can you create an Introduction before a DVD Menu

Hello Mightec, Here is what I use - it is much the same as the one that Tomuk has sent to you. I am working on a pdf tutorial at the moment (rather than a template) because I think that you should make your own intro and thereby learn how to do things. If you want to have the pdf when it is done, please send me you email and I will add you to my 'tutorials' group listing. Opening_Sequence_Test.zip -
OK Keith, you have a point! It was not my intention to be critical or anything like that. I simply wanted to point out that PTE, as a program, has been highly sucessful as a 'Slide Show' producing piece of software and we seem to be pre-occupied these days with animation. If it is over used, we are in danger of losing the plot, but that is only my opinion. Sorry if I did not make my point as clearly as I ought to have done. I applaud the work of all those members who have taken the time to create templates that have now been made available to everyone, we need their input and I take my hat off to them all! Ron

Touche! Barry. Maybe we are all forgetting this. Panning, zooming and rotating are all we really need in a slide show, let's not get carried away and forget that audio visual is what it is all about. Remember the Kodak Carosel? Ron

Why is PTE Quality so much better than Photodex
Ronniebootwest replied to mightec's topic in General Discussion
Lin Evans I would be very interested in you older posts on converting flash (SWF) Count me in please. KSF I think that KSF is referring to the 'Transition' effects in Pro Show Gold. However I am of the opinion that the use of to many transitions will often 'kill' the impact of a good slide show. Ron -
Dom, I have now made a slide show with the new version of this template (straight frame) and it works fine. However I do notice that that there is quite a lot of 'shimmer' when the frames are zooming in - is this normal or is it just my computer set-up? Anyone else having this problem? Ron
-
Hi Ken, this is a great link that will prove very useful to a lot of people. Thanks for pointing us to it. Ron

Hell Dom, Thankyou for updating your template to take account of my suggestions. The new template is now excellent and very usable (especially when a new frame is added) I am a keen fan of your templates and urge people to download and use them. If you need any help in understanding them, please refer to the tutorial on my website. Great work work Dom! thankyou and keep them coming. Ron

Hi Dom, I watched your demo. The frame that you used is pretty basic, can it be changed? Also I was not keen on the 'concave' effect, I think it would be nicer with a straight forward landscape (straight edges) frame. It can be used to good effect in a PTE slide show but will not work very well for a 'wide screen' DVD unles you can change the screen ratio and use images of 1025x576 pixels. Ron

Of course it will be useful to anybody who does not understand how to use your template and Judging by the downloads from my site already, there are many people who want to read it.

I ran it with CS2

Mike I downloaded the action, then opened the Action Pallette in Photoshop, then dragged the action (ATN) into the Action Pallette and it ran OK. Only problem now. is I don't know what to do with the 3 separate images that the action produced. Dom Help! what do we do with these 3 images please? Ron

I have completed a pdf tutorial on how to use this fantastic album template. I have uploaded it to my web site together with a PTE Slide Show made with the tutorial. You can download it from the Download page HERE: I also hope that TheDom will be adding it to his 'Sharing Page Site' in a day or so. Ron

John Finn, you sent me a private message but did not tell me your email address so I cannot contact you. However, please send me the pdf that you mentioned. Ron

Hi Dom, Thankyou for being so helpful and guiding me through the problems That I was having with your Album Template. I think that I now understand it all, except the Front Cover I will wait for you to add a 'Text Box' option whenever beta 9 in released. Here is a link to my latest effort and I hope that it will meet with your approval: Please see the update below: Anyone else who would like to have a look, please feel free, but please let me know what you think. Ron UPDATE Some of you have pointed out a problem with 'jumping' & 'shimmering' on the opening slides to this demo. I have corrected it now and uploaded the new version. Please note that you will only be able to download this show until 23rd March 2007. Here is the new link: Click here to download

Hi Barry, It is very kind of you to post this information on the Forum, we can all learn something new evry day and your article has a wealth of information in it. I tried to print the whole thing out for easy access to the chapters but gave up because it does not appear to be very printer friendly. Perhaps you would consider making a 'pdf file' that will print onto an A4 sheet in portrait mode. I feel sure that many members would appreciate this. Ron West
