  1. Lin mentions a virus protection program called 'NOD32'. I had never heard of this software so took a peek at the website. The write up looks very impressive and I am now wondering how it compares to Norton Antivirus (which a lot of people in ther UK rely on). Ron
  2. Hey Dom, give it time - people are a little hesitant to accept a new idea. More people will add links and things as they see the benefit of your new page. I think it is great. Ron
  3. Excellent idea and a very useful facility! Thankyou Dom. I have added a link to my own site and I notice that it has already attracted a rating of '9' What can I say, except that I am bias! Well I have to rate myself high because others may not be so gererous Ron
  4. The English is not so bad! But you still did not provide some help on gettin the tutorial to run.
  5. I downloaded this tutorial from Beechbrook but cannot work out how to run it! Is it in French or English please. Can you supply some quick notes on how to get the thing started. Ron
  6. Lin, I agree with some of your comments but the slide show was not intended to illicit the 'brainiest child' in the world, it is merely a demonstration of what can be done with PTE (without any animation). Perhaps the person making a serious quiz show would spend much more time selecting the 'pictures' so that any ambiguity in the answers could be avoided. My show is meant to demonstrate the concept of a quiz show and nothing more. Ron
  7. Ken, How does this utility differ from the 'Belarc Advisor'? Do we need to consider having both? Ron
  8. Hi Dom, Thanks for your nice comments! I agree that you should be proud of your 'Genious' score - I wonder how many other 'grown ups' can reach this level? BTW what has happened to my pdf tutorials on your site? I cannot see a couple of them now, have you removed them? Ron
  9. Are you getting a little tired of seeing version 5 demo's? Take a short trip down memory lane and download this little quiz show that the kids will love. Maybe even the grown up kids will not get top score! Download it Here:
  10. Only 3 eh! shame on you Fred. I am surprised you got the pub - most thought it was a restaurant. Thanks for this suggestion, I will certainly want to add this feature. I had not realised that it existed! It will most certainly add to this quiz game - let me know when it is available and how it works please. Fred, you are amazing! I will hire you as my beta tester for the future because this suggestion is spot on. I will add it to the slide show with immediate affect. Thankyou very much for all these 3 suggestions - very constructive! Ron UPDATE as at 10.15pm on 29th Sept 2006 I have uploaded a revised slide show to my web site, incorporating the suggestions that Techman made above. He is right! it does look a lot better now. Download it from the download page Here
  11. David, since you posted these comments, loads of people have downloaded the show from my web site (my poor bandwidth allocation is going through the roof ). A good many folk agree with you and have asked if the animation can be 'slowed down' so the the pieces move onto the screen more slowly. The answer is YES! and I have now written the changes into the pdf tutorial. I have also uploaded the puzzle, after having made the above changes, now the whole thing is much slower. Please let me know if it is better now. Find it on the 'Download' page of My Webpage
  12. Hi Ken, You are quite right! All is well now, thanks. Ron
  13. Hello David, Thanks for the feedback! Let's wait until you have had a chance to play it on your main computer - I feel sure that the animation will work as smooth as silk then. As for slowing down the pieces coming together, of course there is a way to slow it all down but that will depend on the person building the slide show. Remember that what you downloaded from my site is just a demo, the idea is that you build your own quiz, using your own photographs. I would be very interested in seeing another quiz slide show built by someone else - maybe even one of you American guys! Ron
  14. Is anyone else having problems with sound? When I preview the show all is OK but when I create the exe, the sound has disappeared. I seem to have experienced this problem before but can't remember what I did to fix it. Ron
  15. There have been no volunteers yet! I have will post the full version of the slide show on my Web Site later on today, maybe that will inspire some re-action You ought to be a BROADBAND user before attempting the download though. Ron
  16. Sounds like an interesting thought! I will watch this thread with interest. Ron
  17. Dom, Zip up a short exe file of a slide show and I will see if I can make a screen shot! Ron
  18. The whole tutorial is based on Photoshop and I am not sure if any other 'Photo Editor' will be up to the job. I am sure that other members might well want to comment on this also, it just maybe possible to adapt the tutorial but not the photoshop action. Sorry!
  19. I know that a good many of you had success with my previous tutorials and I am just about finished with a new one. It is called 'A Childs Jigsaw Quiz' and uses a jigsaw photoshop action made by Panos. This action can be downloaded from his web Site Here: I found that I needed a lot of time to create this puzzle but I learned an awful lot along the way. I would now like to have a few members do a test drive for me (much the same as you did before) but before you volunteer, be aware that it might take you a while to go throught the whole process. Not that it is difficult, just a bit time consuming. The end result is worth the learning curve though. Email me if you would like to see the beta pdf file. I will upload a quick demo slide show to my website later on so you can see the end result. Ron UPDATE: I have now uploaded the FULL slide show. You will find it on the 'Download' page on my web Site (see below)
  20. Why are you saying that there is no need for transparency? Of course there is! jpeg would show two thirds of the image as a white background. Ron
  21. JPD, I will first try your suggestion and use jpeg images instead of PNG to see if the problem still exists. However, Igor seem to think that he will solve this proble in the next beta to be realeased, so it might be better just to wait a while! Ron
  22. Hello Igor, I do not understand what you are saying, this problem does appear even when I create three sections of an image - indeed jpd picked up the lines when I uploaded a 'three way split' example. How do you explain that the effect works perfectly (no lines visible) with a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 and only fails (lines visible) when a higher resolution is used? jpd suggest that NOT using the anti-aliasing option, will solve the problem but I have tried this and the lines still appear with resolutions higher than 1024x768. Ron
  23. My sound problem is solved! It seems that the latest Microsoft Auto Updates caused a change to my Control Panel settings and set the 'Sounds' to 'No Sound' Contol Panel>Sounds & Audio Devices>Sounds. In the 'Sound Schemes' box I re-set to 'Windows Default' and everything was back to normal. Ron
  24. Hi Panos, It is very nice to see all the kind words that you write about our Forum, thankyou! Members, Panos was very helpful to me when I had problems creating the right steps when making some Photoshop actions. He actually spent time with me, teaching me how to do the job properly. I can now make my own sophisticated actions with some degree of professionalism. All thanks to the kindness of Panos. Ron
  25. Hi Ken, I have tried the things that you suggest and everything is reported as being OK. I get sound OK from other programs, e.g. Audition, Media Monkey but I still get nothing from PTE. I am getting frustrated with this now, so am going to bed - maybe the little fairies will visit in the night and fix it.
