Suddenly I have lost all sound (playback) in my PTE shows. When I run a show I get this message: It might be something to do with 'file associations' but I haven't got a clue how to check this. Any help will be appreciated. Ron
-
JPD, I have not received this file nor have I received the previous email that yoy said you had sent. Did you use the correct email address? ronniebootwest@ntlworld.com

JPD. I think that the reason for you seeing the 'lines' is because you are probably running your screen resolution at a higher setting than 1024 x 768. My slide show was prepared at 1024 x 768 and so lines will be visible at any higher resolution. You try it by temporarily changing the resolution and let me know. Ron

I am curious as to why you are getting the 'two lines' in the final picture. I assume you mean that you can see the line where the three images join together. This is not normal and I wonder why it is happening on your computer. I have taken your advice and 'unchecked' the antialiasing box. It maybe something to do with the photoshop action that I made so if you send me your email address I will send you a test zip file that you can test out on your computer - this might solve the 'two line' problem. Anybody else who is seeing this problem can email me for the 'action test' Ron

I have been experimenting with some 'panning' effects in one of my shows and it works without a hitch on my system. There have been some reports of 'jerkiness' on a few computers so if you would like to test your own system, then download this slide show and let me know if it runs smoothly please. You might like to comment on the 'effects' as well Please note: This download is only available for 7 days Download it Here: This is a 26mb file and will take about 4 minutes to download on a broadband system (not really suitable for dial-up) Ron

I have been using the option provided with Photoshop, i.e. 'Edit with Imageready' then 'Export Layers as Files' This script sounds very similar, what is the difference please? Ron

Sorry Dom, your download link does not seem to work for me. Ron

Dom & bjc, This is a perfect example of members assisting each other and is to be highly commended. Thank you both for taking the time to help. Please let me know when this tutorial (on how to use The Dom's template on 'Flipping Images') is available. Ron update: bjc I have now downloaded and watched your video tutorial and am now eager to find the time to try it myself. Wow! what a lengthy process though. Thanks for producing it for us, I am sure that members will appreciate it.

Hi Dom, I want to create a slide show that uses a continuous filmstrip that scrolls from right to left across the screen. Your filmstip only has 4 images. Any ideas on how to achieve the effect? Ron West

Bic Is it possible to have a copy of the actions you mention. I would like to have a go at this effect. Dom, Your demo is magnificent! Pity about the small glitch in the join as the image comes together. The shadow makes a huge difference. You guys are well out of my league, I take my hat off to you. Ron

PTE really nice : How to put a cube in a slideshow
Ronniebootwest replied to JPD's topic in General Discussion
Sorry about that, yes I did forget about it. I have tried again to use this template, especially the film strip, but I just cannot work out how to add my own images to the film. Nor do I know what size the images should be. How do I do it? Ron -
bjc: I like this effect, you have done well to produce it. Even with the detailed explanation from Lin, I am unable to reproduce what you have done. Have you considered an audio visual tutorial, or maybe you could persuade Lin to do one for us. Ron West

PTE really nice : How to put a cube in a slideshow
Ronniebootwest replied to JPD's topic in General Discussion
JPD: Amazing piece of work! Fabulous effect! Marvellous! I am absolutely gobsmacked. How on earth did you do this fantastic effect? I would like to see a tutorial on this - just the first part where the square turns into a cube would be great for starters. Dom: If you do manage to do a template, please place me on your mailing list for a copy. By the way, I haven't forgotten that you said you would make a template for my '4WaySplit' tutorial, when will that be available? Ron -
Proposed pdf Tutorial for version 5
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
Celou, Are you quite sure that you have not 'checked' the BLUR option? This can cause the lines to show. Also did you use the Photoshop Action and not create the separations yourself? I don't have the problem myself but I would be interested to know if anybody else has noticed the problem. Ron -
Proposed pdf Tutorial for version 5
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
The Dom Interesting suggestion about the jpeg rather than PNG, but I do not understand why you are getting a white line around the 4 pieces (maybe because you have selected the 'Blur' option). Perhaps you could give more detail on how to use jpeg instead of PNG? I think that PNG is necessary in order to produce a transparent background to each of the 4 pieces. Ron Update: Dom: I have checked the sizes of the 4 pieces when saved as a jpeg (112kb) and when saved as PNG they are 540kb so why do you say that the images are 'Huge'? -

Making PNG text with transparent background In Photoshop
Ronniebootwest replied to Lin Evans's topic in General Discussion
Swiff player is a good one. -
Here is a link to the promiced tutorial on how to split an image in to 4 separate pieces and then use them to creat a sequence in version 5. The tutorial will show you how to split the image (using a Photoshop Action) and then provide detailed instruction on how to use version 5 to put the pieces back together again using all of the pan, zoom and rotate options available. I think that you might like this one folks! It can be downloaded from The Dom's site HERE This is the third tutorial that I have posted now and if you would like to see how they can be effectively included in a real live PTE Slide Show, I have updated a previous show of mine called 'Cardiff Bay'. This update includes an example of all the tutorials so far. It is a large file (42mb) so is only really suitable for downloading by broadband or cable users. Please let me know what you think, I learn from all your comments! Download it HERE Edit Update: I have a problem with copyright on the two welsh songs included in the original slide show so I have replaced them with some royalty free music by Medwyn Goodall. To those of you who have downloaded the original version, please do not circulate it to anyone else, better still, delete it and download the new show. Thank you, Ronnie West

Proposed pdf Tutorial for version 5
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
Hell all, The pdf tutorial is now complete and has been tested by some very competent members (my thanks to them). I just have to make some minor adjustments and will then make it available for download from 'The Dom' web site. I will post a message when this is done. Ron -

Ronniebootwest replied to Lin Evans's topic in General Discussion
Well Lin, if this is your first attempt then I congratulate you. I have been making audio visual tutorials for some time now and I know what goes into them. Proposed pdf Tutorial for version 5
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
Right, I now have the first beta pdf for this tutorial ready. It is 36 pages long so a bit of a beast. I would like a couple of members to check it out for any mistakes before I post it on 'The Doms' site. I hope that the instructions are easy to follow by the newcomer to version 5 so you need not be an expert to check it. Last time I asked for beta testers I had a very positive response so on this occasion, I will work with the first THREE volunteers? Thank you in advance, I appreciate your help. Ron -
Hi there! Are these tutorials in English or French please? If in English I would loke to see them. Ron

OK, OK already! I am already half way to completing this tutorial It is proving to be a bit difficult to put into words, but I will do it, I promice you. Dom. You gotta deal mate! I will look forward to seeing the template when you have finished it. I am not sure just how you will manage it though. Thanks for the kind words from you all. Ron. p.s. Blast it!
