Proposed pdf Tutorial for version 5
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
Not much interest here then! Never mind, I can do with a rest. -
Dom, I watched this flash movie and agree that it is very good, providing a lot of information. It does not go into any real detail on the subject of Parent/Child however. What I would like to see is a detailed tutorial on what Parent/Child is and how to actually use it in PTE Version 5. I have an excellent description of it from Jeff Evans (Thanks Jeff) now I must find out how and when to use it properly. Ron
-
David, If you understand the Parent-Child thingy well, would you please post an in depth explanation of it, I am more than a little confused by it all and would welcome some tuition. Ron
-
Hi Ron, I also use Sitemeter but I cannot see where it provided a 'Number of Downloads' fro any particular file. Am I missing something? Ron
-
Come on Lin, you well know the amount of time it takes to prepare these tutorials and such a small charge is well worth what you get. Have you seen the quality of this guys tutorials? it is also an AUDIO/VISUAL so it beats the normal pdf tutorials. I might add that some of my own tutorials carry a charge, I could not offer them for free because of the time and expense involved in making them. Ron

When I put PTE stuff up on my website, it always creates a lot of interest and the downloads begin in earnest. I am not a rich man however and when so many downloads take place it eats quickly into my Bandwidth Allocation (costly). Clearly I need to monitor this, so does anyone out there know how I can include a 'Number of downloads counter' option so that I know exactly how many times a particular file has been downloaded.

I have completed a project for a slide show intro sequence, based on a previous post by Lin Evans and Derek Drury, where an image is split into 4 parts and then brought back in separate parts to re-form the whole picture. It can be a useful addition to your slide shows. I am prepared to make a tutorial of this for the Forum if enough people are interested. Please take a look at the .exe sequence and let me know if you are interested. The file is called '4 Way Split' and it can be downloaded Here

Thankyou Bill! It is always nice to read comlimentary remarks such as yours, it inspires me to go on spending the (long) time it takes to make these tutorials. PDF style tutorials are becoming increasingly popular. This current series that I am publishing to members of the forum is purely aimed at the 'beginner' - hence the very BASIC approach. Thanks again for your kind words. Ron

There is also a very good audio/visual download tutorial available from 'DavroDigital' that shows you how to create a photo cube. It is available Here

Dutch language files PTE v5.00 beta #5
Ronniebootwest replied to CorVdK's topic in General Discussion
Hello Cor, I appreciate the length of time it takes to prepare tutorials so understand that it will only be worth your while to translate if your Dutch colleagues are interested. So, if any Dutch members see this post, then do please post a reply if you would like to see a translation. Ron -
Dutch language files PTE v5.00 beta #5

Hello Cor, I have now finished the next tutorial in this series, it is called 'Panning pdf Tutorial' and can be downloaded Here: Have a look at it and decide if you would like to translate this one also. Ron -
My previous tutorial was so successful that I have now produced another in the same style. It deals with the introduction of the panning option and demonstrates, in very basic terms, just how easy it is to pan an image around your screen. Intended for the novice user it is worth a look. You can download it: here

I did say that these things should be user friendly didn't I? Well I could not understand what this template is supposed to achieve and I didn't even know how to use it. It did not pass the 'test' of being user friendly - not yet anyway. Ron
-
Sam, The 'Template' option does not actually add the .exe (slide show) in the folder. I alway make a habit of copying this over so that I have everything in one place - just in case. Ron

Scrolling Text with Version 5
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
Wow! What a compliment from a senior citizen like yourself. I am so pleased that you are still active in PTE at the young age of 78. Well done Cush and congratulations. Ron -
It is always wise to create a 'Template' (version 4.xx) or to use the 'Zip file' facility in version 5. This way you can always go back and edit the show. Ron
-
It all works properly now, well done! Ron

Hi Ken, Thankyou for the news of this update. I have downloaded and installed it. This is a great piece of software that everyone should have on their computer. Ron

Dutch language files PTE v5.00 beta #5
Ronniebootwest replied to CorVdK's topic in General Discussion
Hello Cor, I can't understand a word of Dutch but I think that your translation is a great idea. I hope that your fellow countrymen will download the tutorial and make good use of it. Ron. -
The Dom, I have no objection whatsoever, in fact I would be very pleased for you to host it for me. Ron p.s. Let me know when you had included it on your site and I can then remove this download link.
-
The Dom, Great idea mate! Please send me a real example of what you are thinking and I will try it out for you. Nothing beats learning how to use version 5 properly though, but in the meantime what you are suggesting sounds very useful, as long as it is user friendly. Ron

Hello Igor, I tried your pre beta but the music will not play in the main 'Preview' mode nor in the timeline preview. However, it does play when in the timeline and the 'Play' button is pressed. Ron
-
OK, let's see if I got this right! If I have, then my pdf tutorial can now be downloaded direct from the Forum. Scrolling_Text_Tutorial.zip BINGO! it works. Who's a clever boy then? Thanks Al.
-
If it is automatic, then how can I use it please? Where is it? Ron
-
Thank you Lin, I have sent you the file via Dropload. Ron
