  1. Hi Cindy, I am pleased that you have your show problems sorted now. I visited you web site and downloaded a couple o your slide shows - they are exellent and the photography is superb. I am sending you a private message with a couple of other questions. Ron
  2. Bruce said Hi Bruce, Thanks for the link to 'Archive Creator' I downloaded the trial version and it seems to do everything that I need. Great little program! I will probably buy a licence before the 15 day period ends. Ron
  3. You seem to be going about this 'the hard way' Why not simply play the same exe show over and over by looping it. Someone will know how to do that I am sure. Ron
  4. I use my laptop to project slide shows onto a large screen and I often get quite frustrated when playing shows by other people. Sometimes I get asked to 'pause' on a particular slide so that the audience can critique the slide. Unfortuneately, most people tend not to make use of the pause facility offered by PTE. Why not I ask myself! it is so simple to use the 'Project Options' to fix this small problem. Maybe people are not aware of this. Please check it out next time you create a slide show. Ron
  5. I am embarking on a PTE sequence of motor racing images and would dearly love to add some realistic 'sound effects' e.g. engines revving or actual recordings of the track races themselves. Where can I get these sound files from, does anyone have some links that they can point me to? I would also like to have an 'intro sequence' made with version 5 but am not very proficient as yet. Perhaps someone out there could make a project for me I will probably make my sequence with version 4.48 so will need to add this to the version 5 opening sequence later. Am I being to ambitious??? Ron
  6. I know that this question has been raised before and has been answered by many of you. However, I am still not quite certain of the best way of making backups of my images. I thought that a cataloguing program such as 'Extensis Portfolio' was the way to go but have now changed my mind after I lost most of my photo's when my hard drive failed. I now simply make a backup of my entire images folder on to a second hard drive. This is all very easy but it is a tedious task to find a particular image when needed. What I would like to know is what you professionals do - is there a nice quick and easy way of cataloguing and saving? What about RAW files? I save the original (as shot by the camera) but do you also save the processed image in PSD format? Please post your own favourite method so that we can all share. Ron
  7. Hello Dave, You will find PTE is an excellent program, once you get to grips with it. I agree with Conflow though, stay away from AVI and Video until you are completely confident with .exe files and running them on a computer because you will be very confused otherwise. Please also note that our forum is being consumed with questions and demo's for the latest version of PTE. i.e. version 5 beta3. Don't try to learn with this latest version because a lot of features are missing at the moment. Make sure that you are using version 4.48 and you will not go wrong. Ron
  8. Not sure of what you mean with this question, can you give us more details of what you are trying to do please? Ron
  9. After the recent beta testing of my pdf tutorial for the Organiser Menu, I have now updated everything so that users only have to add their own shows to a (supplied) template that runs in the Object Editor of PTE. It is on my website on the tutorials page, if you would like to take a look. My Webpage
  10. Hi there and welcom to our forum. If you are new to PTE and the making of slide shows, you will find plenty of help from the members here. Why don't you consider using Photoshop elements? These days it is almost as good as the full version of Photoshop. With regard to making slide shows, well you might benefit from watching some of the many video tutorials that are available from all over the place. I can recommend these three sites: Beckham digital David Rowley My Webpage
  11. I had the same problem when I made my own web site. I found all the help I needed in a tutorial made by Barry Beckham. Just visit his site and look in the CD Tutorial > Miscellaneous section for the tutorial called, 'Create your own Web Site' I can really recommend it to you. Click this link: Ron West My Webpage
  12. If your clients have a computer, then you should send them the .exe (the PTE file) on a CD because the quality of this cannot be beaten. If they don't have a computer and you want them to watch it on a television screen, then you will be disappointed with the resultant quality of the picture because it just will not be any where near as good as the original .exe However, having said this, the latest version of Nero does do a reasonable job of making a DVD from the AVI file produced by Picture to Exe. The downside is that there is quite a steep learning curve to overcome. Ron
  13. Very good, much better than the previous. Now we are getting closer to what is needed here. I would stilll like to see a normal slide show (like the ones made with 4.48) played full screen with just the 'Curtains' as an opening sequence. I guess that the low resolution image thing, will be sorted eventually, that is the only thing that is spoiling this utility at the moment. Ron
  14. I have sorted this problem the easy way, I just redid the project from scratch with a new project name. Ron
  15. TheDom Now this improvement of yours is the best yet, well done! I agree with Lin though, you should redo it with the converging verticals correction. A question: for those of us who are not yet proficient with the complexities of PTE Version 5, can you expain how we can use this 'opening sequence' by adding one of our own slideshows so that it will play? Ron West
  16. Fantastic! The perspective correction makes a great deal of difference. I think that the 'safety curtain' is a little obstrusive though, can it be reduced in size (or even taken out altogether? Now all that is needed is for someone to come up with a decent shot of an auditorium!!! Great worl Lin. Ron West
  17. I have recently encountered this error message while working in the 'Object Editor' and then attem pting to run a 'Preview' of the show. Can anyone explain why I am getting it please?
  18. Thanks Ken, I have decided to change the spelling accordingly.
  19. Thanks for your good wishes. Ken deserves most of the credit for designing this superb utility. Look out for the VIDEO TUTORIAL that I will now start work on. I am quite sure that it will impress you. It should be on my website very soon now. My Webpage
  20. I have had a very good response to my request for testers and have made quite a few changes to my original pdf because of the constructive comments received. Thankyou very much to all those who took part - I really do appreciate your help. One thing that surprised me though, lots of you did not know what an Organiser Menu was, so here is a picture of the final product. (please note: I have changed the spelling to read, Organiser)
  21. Jeff Thanks, that did the trick. Alrobin You are right, Ken is from across the pond but I am English and want to use my own version of our language.
  22. I make pdf tutorials for PTE and I use Microsoft Word 2003. A recent beta test of my tutorial for the Ken Nickles Organisor Menu has produced comments about the spelling of ORGANISOR. I agree with my tester who says that the correct spelling is ORGANISER. Clearly, my version of Word is using the USA dictionary and I need to change over to the UK version. I have tried to do this by following the help files provided by Microsoft but I just cannot get it to change. Does anyone know how I can change the preferences so that I will always use the UK dictionary please? Ron
  23. Very neat effect! Pity that the resolution is causing such bad picture quality though.
  24. Maybe you might like to look at the 'PTE Organisor Menu. This may give you more control over all of your shows. Ron
  25. You are right David, my camera also has this facility to automatically change from portrait to landscape. I always turn it off! Mixing portrait and landscape shots in a PTE slide show never produces a professional result in my opinion. Ron
