  1. I have now finished the written tutorial on how to create the 'Ken Nickles' PTE Organisor Menu. It is in 4 parts and has a total of 53 pages. I would like to have this tested for bugs and things before I actually make the Audio Video version and am wondering if any member who has Photoshop and the time to spare, would check it out for me. Please email me if you are a volunteer and I will send you the pdf files. ronniebootwest@ntlworld.com Ron West
  2. Hi there! Version 5 is still only a Beta and as such does not have the full functions of version 4.48. Also, because it is a betaa and is very new with loads of new features, it has quite a steep learning curve, so you will be better off using the older version (4.48) untill the full version of 5 is released. Ron
  3. Hi LigiaD, It seems that Ralph is managing to help ypou aout on this one but I wonder if you could post your show (with menu) so we could all see the problem that you are experiencing. Perhaps you could use Beechbrook or Yousendit ? Ron
  4. I am curious now because I do fully understand what the problem is here. Can you explain exactly what you are experiencing please. Ron
  5. Hello Ligia, You are always talking about linking 14 exe files so that they play one after the other. If this is correct, then I fear that your audience may well become a little bored and fidgity. It is not a good idea to have too many slides in one presentation - much better to keep each show down to a maximum of about 10 minutes. Ron
  6. Excellent piece of work and very professional. The music played fine on my machine but I think that the text titles need a little refinement. I would be very interested in a Photoshop Action that would enable this kind of effect to be created. As one who makes and sells tutorials, I know the work that goes into this kind of thing so I would be more that happy to pay for the action. Ron
  7. There IS a separate thread 'pinned' fro the new version 5 but very few members seem to want to use it! I agree that the forum has been overtaken by tests and demo's and it would be nice to get back to 4.48 discussion ib the normal place until version 5 is actually released. Ron
  8. Send me your email address and I will send a copy of the One Page Menu pdf. The pdf for the Organisor will be part of an 'Audio Visual Tutorial' and as such will not be free because I have to cover the cost of making it. (I make no profit though) Ron
  9. Sorry about that Al! I missed out the 'K' I meant sknickles of course. Ron
  10. Once again I must show my ignorance and ask what 'PZR' means. Not everyone understands these abbreviations!
  11. Ralph, Sounds like you want some kind of 'Menu', there is my 'One Page Menu' tutorial (See my website) or I have just finished a pdf tutorial on the 'PTE Organisor' - this is a sophisticated organisor/menu designed by Snickles who is a member of this forum. Ron
  12. This is an excellent little utility and I would like to use it in some of my own slideshows. One point though! The clockface seems a little offset, perhaps you could straighten it a little and repost together with the projext file. I don't know how you fella's are so clever with this new version 5 - I am still struggling Ron
  13. Jason, Your loyalty to Proshow Gold is to be commended. Maybe you will convert later on as Pictures to Exe gains the upper hand
  14. Blimey! Give us a chance, version 5 has only just been released and that is causing me some sleepless nights. Ron
  15. I recently had the same problem as you describe (see my previous post) with my Task Manager showing an amount of 13 against the 'System Name' even when nothing was running. I tried in vain to cure the problem and then fate took a hand - my computer completely crashed out on me. The problem was diagnosed as a faulty processor. I took the bull by the horns and replaced both my Motherboard and my Processor and now everything runs as smoothe as silk (and very quiet also) I agree with Ken Cox, I do not think that you will run Version 5 with your current proccessing power or without installing XP service pack 2. You may also want to check your motherboard if it is older than 5 years. I now have the following:- Intel Pentium 4 3.4 ghz proccessor Gigabyte Motherboard Gforce 6600GT graphics card 2 gig of DDR ram Enough power there to run a train! Ron West
  16. jeff Evans, I know that you are writing a tutorial for version 5. Would you please let us all know when it is ready for us all to see. I am finding the whole thing a little overwhelming at the moment and I certainly nees some guidance on how to use all of these new features. Ron
  17. Ken, I already have the stuff you mentioned! Downloaded and printed it, but I still cannot determine what is causing the CPU useage of 13 to be displayed. I know for sure that it is because I cannot get this 13 to go away that causes my 'jerkiness' with PTE 5. It is strange that once in a while my computer will boot up and the Task Manager will show 'System' as zero. In this case, as I have already said, PTE will run perfectly. Ron
  18. Hi Brian, I am confused! Perhaps because I don't really understand how to read the Task Manager display. I thought that the number shown in the 'CPU' column referred to the amount of processing power that is being used and not a code number. The figure of 13, that is displayed, is not always present when I boot up my computer - sometimes it is '00' and then everything in PTE5 works just fine. When the CPU returns a number of 13, PTE5 always runs with 'jerkiness'. My problem is to find out why I get a CPU display of '00' sometimes and '13' at others. See screenshots in my earlier post. Incidently, when I use another utility that I have, called 'TaskInfo' it returns a CPU useage of 12.50% and gives a little more information in the right hand pane, as follows:
  19. Nero Scout is one of the options available in 'Nero 7' so you will not have it included in your version 6. If you are showing zero against the 'system' in Task Manager, then I doubt you will have a problem when you upgrade your Graphics Card. I have the NVIDEA Geforce 6600GT (AGP). If you decide to get this card, be careful because there are two different versions - the one I have and also an 'express' version. Make sure you mention the make and model of your motherboard when you purchase, or you may finish up buying the wrong one. Strange that I seem to be the only one with a CPU count of 13 in my Task Manager - someone must know the reason; I can but hope. Ron
  20. I am having problems with jerkiness with all the demo's posted because something is running in the background causing the 'Task Manager' (right click on bottom tray and selct Task Manager) to show a CPU useage of 13 against the 'System' name. I think that it might have something to do with virus programs like Microsoft Defender because when I disabled the auto scan option the Task manager returned a CPU useage of zero. When it was at zero all of the posted demo shows ran perfectly. Trouble is, when I rebooted my computer the dreaded 13 was displayed in the Task Manager again and I was back to Jerks. Does anybody have the solution please? Just how can I identify the reason for the CPU useage of 13 and how do I get it to stay at zero? Ron
  21. Bwise, I have a pdf tutorial on how to create a 'One Page Menu' that will do what you require. It will be on my website very soon along with an Audio Visual CD. Meantime, send me your email address and I will send you a copy of the pdf. Ron
  22. Hi Ian, Never did see your original show so this new edition was a surprise for me. Really good show (the first I have see that uses the options available in version 5 without 'going over the top') How many of the originals options were retained and how many were replaces by version 5? It ran very well on my NJVIDEA 6600GT card. I reckon that you ought to produce a tutorial, you would be very good! Ron
  23. To Alrobin, Thanks for the link to 'Enditall' - I have downloaded it and had a look but am very nervous about using it at the moment. It seems all to easy to delete all the folders/processes from the computer and thereby 'crashing' everything to a standstill. Perhaps you could provide us with a brief outline of just how to use this thing. Ctrl+Alt+delete, that opens up the System Configuration Utility in XP, is just as daunting! Just what processes does one delete? Now that is the question!. Ron
  24. I have been following all the numerous posts about version 5 since it was released. Initially the demo's all worked reasonably well with only slight 'jerkiness' I concluded that my graphics card was not up to running the new effects - my old card was an NVIDEA GEFORCE 5200. So I purchased a new card which was recommended as suitable, i.e. NVIDEA GEFORCE 6600GT. With this new card I expected perfection with the pan and zooms but nothing has changed, in fact, I get an even more pronounced 'jerkiness' now that I had before. Someone suggested that this is because I might have too much running in the background. Is this so and if it it, how can I stop thinga from running in the background in order to check again? Another thing that I have noticed since the new card has been installed, is that the mouse cursor now moves erratically across the screen whereas before it was perfectly smooth. Seems that I might be waiting for Version 5 to get better before I try to use it. Ron
  25. Bill, For future reference, can I mention the 'Make Template' option in PTE. If you use this after creating your slide show then you will not have this problem of 'losing' stuff in future because the template will create a folder and store everything in it for you. Ron
