I want to add an ini file to autostart my CD's and I thought that I knew how to do it. However, I must be doing something wrong because no matter how I try, my CD's wioll just not start. Here's what I did:- a. I created a one page menu show and added buttons using the PTE Object Editor. Each button was configured to run an individual show. I then saved this as a PTE .exe show called menu.exe b. I created a new folder into which I copied the shows configured in the above menu. c. I created the autorun ini, i.e. [autorun] run=menu.exe d. I burned a CD and included the following:- The autorun ini, the folder containing the shows and the menu.exe file. It did not work!!!! Why?? Also, does anyone know where I can get a simple autorun creator (I already have the one from Boxig's site)

Is it wise to take on board such a responsibilty without first learning something about the subject? I applaud your courage but be ready for some shocks because the larning curve can be very steep, especially if you embark on 'Digital' photography to create the raw material for your audio visual shows. I do not think that you will find a better program than PicturesToExe by the way.

Hi Ruth, Yes the colour shift only seems to occur when using the 'Image Processor'. As I said before I don't use it much because I pefer to crop my images idividually to a predetermined size. Maybe, in your case you might want to consider making an action.

I notice that Brian has offered to help you with your EULA - take him up with his offer and you will be very pleased with the result. I don't know what software you use to create your installer, but I have found this one very easy to use, it is from the Clickteam people and called 'InstallCreator' they have a FREE version as well as a Pro version - both are very easy to follow. Have a look for yourself by clicking: Here

Hello John and welcome to our forum. I am quite sure that you will find all that you need with the PTE program and you will be amazed when the next version is released. (version 5). Please let us see some of the work that you produce soon. Good luck!

I read a recent post (can't remember which one) that mentioned a batch processing utility being built into Photoshop CS2. This is quite correct, and one member advised that it could be accessed via the 'Bridge'. For those interested in batch processing, the option can also be accessed directly from inside Photshop as follows: FILE>SCRIPTS>IMMAGE PROCESSOR If you do use this facility to convert your images from psd to jpeg, be aware that the colours, in your images, can often be affected.

There is a better way of transferring file! Install and use 'MSN Messenger' on your computer. then you will find all sorts of advantages. Ron

This is clearly a subject that has raised some hackles but there is no real need to get into all of the technicalities of this subject becaus JIM stated earlier on in this post that he always has success with his timings, when converting WAV to mp3. The moral here is simply, "The proof of the pudding.........etc" so can I suggest that taking Jim's advice might well be the simple answer. Ron

This particular topic has been very well supported by forum members and the latest slide show, presented by Maureen, is excellent. I downloaded it yesterday and it runs as smooth as clockwork on my system. (pentium 4, 2.4 processor and 2 gig of ram). Some folk have chosen to offer some critisism, but I suggest that it may be that their computer set up is just not 'man enough' to run this show properly. The work that Maureen has clearly put into producing this superb show is worthy of a commendation. Well done Maureen!

[quote The actual version is stable and doing a perfect job. Seems to me this wanting for Pan and Zoom is a bit dangerous. Remember when we were children and wanted something very much. The moment you got it, fun lasted for a few days and then again there were other wishes.... Count your blessings and tomorrow is another day....

Hello Brian, Now what is this all about? Do people like me, with .co.uk addresses, need to register? The whole process looks rather daunting when you visit the websites shown as links. Ron

Can't find images! Did 'Template' lose them???
Ronniebootwest replied to goddi's topic in General Discussion
The old saying of "All's well that ends well" springs to mind. Another old saying that is worth repeating here is "Always make a backup CD/DVD of your original files"./ imagine how you would feel right now if you had lost all those images! BACK UP and be safe. -
Hi Leif, It really doesn't matter where you live, you are very welcome to contact me on MSN if you want to. The more people on this forum who sign up the better as far as I am concerned. Please visit my web site and you will find out how to contact me. Ron

Over 250 members have looked at this post and I am surprised at the lack of response. Is it that people are afraid to use this program because of the 'bad comments' it has received in the various forums? Somebody once said that the 'Ford 8' was a badly designed motor car, yet it went on to become the most popular car in the 1950's. I would like to make contact with anyone who is actually using this software and not just talking about it, especially anyone in my immediate location, i.e. South Wales.

Hi Geoff, can I just say that your original warning about MSN was taken very seriously by me and I totally agree that such warnings should always be given. I appreciated your comments and took immediate action to safeguard myself. Ralph You reply is very useful and your comments about the settings in MSN are very interesting. I will be talking to you about how to access these settings when next we speak on Messenger. Ron

Audio files..Help with setting
Ronniebootwest replied to Vernon Foster's topic in General Discussion
There is no problem with the latest version (version 2) but I think that it is a little overcomplicated. The earlier verion (1.5) is much easier to learn and use and it is also very much cheaper on Ebay. I agree with Brian Conflow's comments about microphones - you should try to get the best that you can afford. Ron -
Audio files..Help with setting
Ronniebootwest replied to Vernon Foster's topic in General Discussion
Yes! Audacity will do most of what you need to do and of course it is FREE software. However, if you want a better sound editor then consider 'Adobe Audition' - you should be able to get version 1.5 on Ebay at a reasonable price. Stick with version 1.5 and NOT the latest version though. Ron -
I cannot see any real evidence of this Geoff, I have searched a whole load of forums to check it out and can only fine praise for the program. Ron

Just recently Ken Cox introduced me to MSN Messenger and I have been very impressed. This program allows you to communicate with each other by either audio (with a microphone) or video (with a webcam). It is then so easy for someone to 'talk you thru' any problems you may be having with the PTE software. There is also the added advantage of being able to transfer shows directly to one another, and also have lengthy conversations without that dreaded telephone bill catching up with you because the whole thing is FREE. I personally believe that more people should consider using MSN - why not try it? If you have already signed up then please let me know and I will be very pleased to make contact with you. Ron West

If you are using Photoshop CS2 you may not know how to access the 'Paint Bucket' because it is now shared with other tools within the 'Gradient' tool. Please see the diagram below to find how to access the Paint Bucket. Ron

Hi Cornflow, this sounds like good news but what about the old version of Beta 1 - should this be uninstalled if 'defender' is installed? Since you assisted me with getting my PC so well protected I feel a little hesitant to make any changes now because everything is working so well at the moment (even with Norton Antivirus 2006) Ron

Thanks Geoff for your suggestions. I have now managed to retrieve my Control Panel (with the help of Cornflow) It seems that I must have tried to open the control panel at the same time that Norton Antivirus was doing a scan - this in some way corrupted my files. I don't know the technical details but Brian gave me the instructions to follow and, as if by magic, the panel re-appeared. We really are lucky to have Cornflow on this forum with all the knowledge that he shares with us. Thanks a heap Brian, it is always appreciated. Ron

I tried that Ken, it didn't work. Ron
