Sorry about this post fella's! I just want to create a new post to confirm that the 'number of posts' in the new invision forum is working correctly now. In my case the number is showing as 329 at the moment, so after this new posting that number should now rise to 330. If it does then the problem has been fixed. UPDATE: This now works fine. I wonder if the same number is showing against my name on your computers?

There is quite clearly something wrong with this 'post counter' Seems that this has now been fixed Reckon it is just one more thing for Ighor to sort out with Invision. Never rains but it pours eh! :angry

Got it! I was adding a reply to my own post - obviously that did not count as a NEW POST. This one should, so now I expect the count to show 300. I give up, for the moment anyway. Is anyone else havong this problem?

This forum is working faster now (for me anyway) I notice that there is an option to add attachments and also pictures. How big should the picture be so that it will upload/download quickly? It is also asking for a URL to be entered! Not sure why. I am just posting this to check if the number of postes is now working properly. My current post number is 329 so I am expecting to see 330 fter this post is displayed. Here goes! Well that didn't seem to work did it? -
Hello Brian, No I have not downloaded any files from the web but I have copied a few from files given to me on disc. I did 'virus check' them before copying though.

Hello everybody, from a cold and wet South Wales (UK). This morning the new forum seems to be much better than of late. I hope this means that Igor has done his stuff! Many thanks Igor, I am quite sure that everyone appreciates your hard work and I for one apologise for my apparent impatience while the Invision Board is being updated. Ron West

This problem of the sound not working has now been cured! It seems that it was something to do with the anti virus software that I use (Norton Internet security). I ran the 'automatic update' option within the software and that seems to have cured the problem (for now).

I am so pleased to see that everything has returned to normal here! Brian, I reckon that you might mean 'tit for tat' or is it different in Iteland?
-
OK Al, I have emailed you the project file and the exe file. This is just a basic test (not the full slide Show) so that you might spot what is going on. I hope you have a fast connection otherwise it might take a while (12+ mb)

Not quite sure what you mean here Al, can you explain please. I can only get the sound to work now, if I use the timeline to create a new show and even when I retrieve a previous 'template' of a show that used to run OK, it now only runs without sound. In desperation I deleted my copy of the PTE program and re-installed it - but this made no difference at all and I still have no sound when trying to run a preview of a show. However, I will repeat what I said before, if I go ahead and make the EXE file, the show will run as normal (with sound). This is baffling me now so any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Granot, I did ask you a while back if the new 'online' program was going to be accepted. We both worked for a long time on your own program 'Photo Order List' which I still think is the best one. This new program seems to rely on its ability to allow the photographer to upload images immediately so that customers can place orders within a few hours. This advantage will all depend on whether the photographer is using digital to take the original photographs. I still use medium format for a lot of my work and therefore I have to send the film away for developing; this means that speed is not required. Some customers will want to see a much better quality 'proof' before placing an order so the internet is not the best medium for this. With the Photo Order List program I can send a CD with a PTE style slide show. Just my own thoughts!

Yesterday everything worked fine but today I seem to have a problem! I compiled a new show (exactly as I have done a hundred times before) I have 82 slides and have added 3 mp3 music files - when I preview the project, the music will not play. However if I use the 'play' button on the timeline, it all seems to work and also, if I go ahead and create the exe file - that works fine too! What can be wrong?
-
I think that Photo Order List is well worth a look! Much Much cheaper and also better I think.

Ken, there is already a 'Pinned' thread started by Igor. Won't this new thread of yours duplicate that? Thanks to the advice I received from Ken, my web site URL is now working fine. I am also pleased to see that the problems with this new Forum update are being sorted out. The whole thing is beginning to look a whole lot more professional! -
Yes of course the audio is important! If you have excellent video and only average audio, then you have only second best. I agree with you, most projectors have totally insufficient audio capability. For my part, I feed the audio into a separate amplifier and speakers so that I can totally control the output. This is absolutely necessary if you intend to show your slide shows to larger audiences, e.g. at your local camera club.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is 'Avatar' and what does it do?

I am now having problems with this new forum. It is very slow especially with adding new posts and replies to existing posts. Are any other members having the same problems?

The Mitisubishi XD400 will take a lot of beating. It has the best 'lamp life' of all of them - replacing a lamp can be a very expensive business for most projectors. Check the life and cost of replacement first!!!

Each time I log on to the internet these days, I get that awful message that the 'Information Bar' is blocking pop-ups etc. I really don't know what this does or even if it is essential. I always simply 'allow all pop-ups' just to get the thing off of my screen. Can somebody educate me please and explain what this annoying newcomer is all about and whether it will do any harm if I disable it completely?

A little late in the day to be replying to the last comment, but I agree with Brian on this one. Although the majority prefer 1024x768 resolution there are still many users (especially outside of the UK and USA) who are still using 800x600. As Granot keeps reminding me, 'you must gear yourself to the user and not expect the viewer to adapt to you'. For this reason I now create my tutorials at BOTH resolutions, i.e. 800x600 and 1024x768. Please visit my website and download a demonstration. My Webpage

Granot, You have saved the day again! I checked both of the links you listed and have found that the 'Restore Desktop' program is perfect for what I need. (yes it is FREE) Thankyou.
-
Recently, I have had occasion to switch my monitor resolution between 800x600 and 1024x768 and each time I do this, the icons on my desktop are moved around. This annoys me because I have the icons positioned and sorted in a particular way. Each time I switch the resolution I have to spend ages re-arranging the icons back to way I want them. Is there a way of keeping all icons fixed on the screen?

We all hope that you are ready mate! Keep smiling and have faith - all will be well. Ron
-
Excellent suggestion Granot! I will be following it up soon.

Ken, I changed my signature and added the forward slash at the end - It is still not active. Am I thick, or what? Ron
