  1. Hi Ken! I read the post made by Brian (Yes there is another way) but it didn't really help because the site link he provided was difficult to navigate because there was so much on it. I have emailed Brian but as yet, have not had a reply. What we really need is for someone to point us to an ACTUAL piece of software that will do this job of protecting a CD. Rpm
  2. Exactly! It is call 'copy protection' and is very important to anyone who, like yourself, makes promo cd's. There must be a way of encrypting so that a copy cannot be burned - I know that people will always find a way around this protection (just like they did in the old days) Someone on this forum must have some idea of how this can be done (copy protect I mean) or even point to a web site where software can be found. I will watch with interest.
  3. Isabel, you may well have figured it out all by yourself. Others on the forum would be interested in just how you did it though
  4. It certainly wilol not be legal! A lot of people do it though by using a sound editor and recording 'what you hear'
  5. Cornflow wrote: "Igor, keep it simple, 4/5 Digits selectable, is quite enough. Forget about the origional Author access/deny utility- it's really not needed - (excepting protection against Program Piracy" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I don't know why you consider that this is not required. Most of us would like some kind of protection - even against our 'stupidity' of forgetting sometimes. Ron West
  6. When momoftwo posted this topic I got real excited because I thought that we were about to discover a way of placing some form of 'copy protection' on to the CD's that we create. Sadly the topic has died a death and nobody has come up with an acceptable answer. I agree with you (momoftwo) there must be a way of protecting our work - but what is it??? Ron West
  7. This sounds all very interesting \nd being able to 'recover' an exe file will certainly be a step forward - providing that only the author can do it! However, does this also include the ability to recover the actual photo's used in the exe file???? Ron West
  8. I am not sure, but I think that AOL automatically 'zips' all .exe files sent as email attachments. Ron
  9. Hello Al, thanks for your reply. I linked to your first suggestion - http://www.telegraphics.com.au/sw/ (photoshop plugin) and recognised this as the plugin I had before. I have downloaded it now and have also saved the details in cas I lose it again. Thanks! Ron
  10. I know that this topic has been discussed before but most people tend to use Irfanview to make their icons. I want to use Phostoshop! I used to have a small 'plugin' that allowed you to save as an .*ico file but I lost it when my hard drive failed. (please don't remind me about back-up - I know i should have done it) Can anyone remember the web site that can provide this plugin please? Ron West
  11. So many people have trouble entering the 'unlock key' when attempting to register the program and now I am falling foul of the same bug. I recently upgraded my licence and needed to re-register. WNsoft sent me an email with a zip file attached - they said that when unzipped the file would automatically register my copy. Oh no it didn't! Some 3 emails later and I am still unable to enter this unlock code. After unzipping, all I get is an unreadable file! Am I missing something here folks? or maybe it is just that I am getting old now. Any help would be appreciated. Ron West
  12. Maureen, You mention 'The AV Show User' in your post. Where can I find this please? Ron
  13. Hello JRR, thanks for your reply - it seems to be what I am looking for. I think that the second option (showing more than one slide show) might be the answer. Can you give me some more detail on how you do this please? Ron
  14. I don't know about you guys, but my desktop is cluttered up with many short cut icons. When I choose the option to 'Reurn to Desktop at end of show' all that clutter appears on the screen and looks rather unprofessional. Is there a way of creating either a 'blank page' or perhaps a page with a menu of shows that will replace the 'desktop' when the show ends? Ron West
  15. Hello Alrobin and you to Ken. Seems that Al is saying that resolution does not matter at all so I will keep mine at 72. However, Ken suggests that I experiment with differing resolutions in order to fine the best - if Alrobing is right, then what is the point in experimenting????? Ron
  16. I have now decided on my projector, a Mitsubishi XD400U (fantastic!) Now I must bore you all with a question of image resolution. My projector is XGA (1024 X 768 pixels) and most of my PTE slides have a resolution of 72. Is there any advantage in having a higher resolution when 'projecting' these slides via a digital projector? Ron West
  17. Hi Lindap, If you email Granot directly he is always very helpful. If you want a better way of creating the 'scrolling Text' effect, have you considered using something like FLASH. I use 'Swishmax' and find it OK though a bit of a learning curve. Ron West
  18. Alan, Not all projectors use a resolution of 1024 pixels, most of the older ones have a resolution of 800x600 (SVGA) It is the newer ones that have the 1024x768 (XGA). There is also SXGA with a resolution of 1280x1024 and UXGA which boasts a massive 1600x1200. I am sure you knew that! Ron
  19. If the text is going to be the same (for a series of slides) then you can use an 'action' in photoshop to add the words. This will be better for you, because you can then choose a much better font, than PTE will allow. Ron
  20. Brian, Does this mean that we can expect to see a huge reduction in the inflated price of Photoshop soon? Ron West
  21. Hello Mike, Thanks for that walk thru your recent purchase. I had not considered the Acer, to be totally honest, I had not heard the name before. I am in a similar position as you in that I do not want to spend loads of money on a projector that will just be used in the home. I am looking at Epson at the moment (secondhand) and my choices are between the EMP53 and the EMP74 - the difference being the resolution. the 53 has standard svga (800x600) while the 74 boasts vga (1024x768). I was interested to note that your projector is 800x600 yet you still use 1024x768 on your shows. Do you lose much in the way of sharpness and contrast when the images are 'scaled' down? It might be that I should go for the larger VGA to begin with I guess. What do you all think. Ron
  22. Thanks for the advice so far, I appreciate it! Now what about some of the 'techie' stuff? If I have a projector with a native resolution of 800x600 pixels (The Epson EMP53) and I feed a PTE slide show made on a computer with resolution of 1024x768 pixels - what will be the likely result. Will the projected image be sharp or fuzzy? I cannot see any virtue in reducing my slide show resolution to meet the 800x600 size. Would it be better to buy a projector with higher resolution in the first place? I must point out that I only want to be able to project to a screen size of around 8 ft. Ron
  23. I want to buy a projector that will display my slide shows and presentations on to a screen that will be about 10ft to 12ft sqare. The resolution of my laptop will be set to 1024 x 768 and my presentations vis Pictures to exe will also be 1024x768. I do not want to spend an arm and a leg on this projector but I do want sufficient brightness to make the images look good. So can anyone offer any advice about model, price etc.? Ron
  24. Hello, Just seen your post re: flash & PTE. I use flash to add opening titles and closing credits to my PTE slide shows. For this I usethe utilities made by Granot. The process can be a little tricky, but once you get the hang of it, things are pretty good. If you want some help then please feel free to email me at: ronniebootwest@aol.com
  25. Hi Ken, I have followed this thread because I am very interested in all of the suggestions that you (and others) have made. I note that Granot has uploaded the latest version on his website (2.0.0.9). However when I run this latest version I do not see the improvements that you have been talking about, e.g. 'loading' and the image that should be displayed in the lower text box. Am I missing something here? Or maybe I am doing something wrong! Can you help please? Ron West
