That's right Dom, it's here, but it's in french and I didn't translate it because Igor will put it in PTE. In the method I used, it's PTE which made the calculations to have a natural acceleration (Speed = gamma x time)

Tom I was parachutist when I was young and I have never seen a parachute opened to the exit of the plane .

Look at my Wishes 2007, if you want the same thing, it' easy, put a rectangle and as children many objects ( bomb if you want, but sweets would be better ). At the beginning, the objects are in the center of the rectangle, at the end give them differents values of pan (and rotate if you want). Then you use pan zoom and rotate on the rectangle to go from the airplane to the background. I didn't see Keith's post when I wrote, his exemple is perfect.

Maureen has correct the explanations I did in good english, these explanations are now in the file which is always at the same adress : Cube V3. Many thanks to Maureen

No, the last slides of the exemple are new one, but they work near the same as for the first slide.

Tom, I tought there was the example you explained, but there aren't exactly what you explained, so I have put some slides more on my example to show how to do in order the moon is first in front and then behind. I have also had an example of what we can do with ellipse : a ball (golf) which have a part of an elliptic orbit and which find the hole. There are 3 slides about moon's orbit 1 The moon is always in front 2 add an second "earth" the opcacity of which change from 0% to 100%, so it's now in front then behind 3 add zoom effects on the moon as if we were at a distance from earth equal at the diameter of the moon's orbit. The new version is here If it was really the moon, it's always the same face which is visible from earth, so you have to put twice the value for rotation of the "moon". I have a modification ready, but for the moment, I can't connect to the server.

Peter, thanks for your comments. Tom, it' very easy to do, but I think somebody do that, may be Lin, if you don't find it I'll do an example.

I have made a more complete version, the template is here. I added an elliptic movement for the number to be better. The shadow isn't perfect, it will be necessary to redo it. I changed the distance gone through by the ball (pi x D) for every rotation. During each half rotation the number has an opacity of 100% an 0.4% for the other half rotation (0.4% and not 0%, it's in order there are always the same quantity of calculation to do, it make all the effects more regular). The 2 values of the elliptic's object are at the same value which make the hight of the ellipse at 0 (on the same line). There are 7 points for the width of the number (100% when in the middle, 70.7% at 1/4 position) to be more realist. In the example there are 2 rotations. It's possible to put the number at another place than in the middle (made on slide #2) and to change its color during the rotation (white to grey) , but I haven't do that.
-
As you ask, I did very quickly, without spreadsheet a little test where there are 3 modifications : The number as notice Peter S was spinning The light on the ball which must be always from the same point The shadow. Test ball here edit : The link has been change for the new version With time it's possible to do better (for instance make the white grey when in the opposite of the light) and better calculation of the width of the number.
-
Yes, you can, it's even possible to have 2 keypoints at the same position, the first one with opacity at 100% and the second à 0% (for example). I put generally 5 or ten ms between both to be sure there are in good order.

Lin, OK for me (with Firefox V2)

At least I have see your globe than I could not see in exe version (black screen + reboot). Nice demo. It run fine with IE6 and Forefox V2 but doesn't work at the first time with swiff player, it's good at the second try.

Nice demo Al and no need of explanation Well done.

I don't always use Excel, for most of my slideshows (more than 20), I work as evereybody does. I only used Excel for a very few number of slideshows : 1 Le jeu de Taquin 2 The 2 hubble's versions 3 two slides of Chantilly 4 Faintaisies florales and the cubes (including the test "Mise en boite") All the other slideshows I did, even the more complex as Corsica you can find on Beechbrook, were made without any use of a tool as Excel or other even my last album photo which have been done without any tool. Everybody can do exactly the same without any calculation. The only thing I did that very few people did : I always used objects in V4 and of course, with V5 it's easier for me and I always try to have the lighter slideshow for the highter quality in the files and I continue to do the same with V5. I have spend more time to study and find solution to have smooth slideshow than to make Cube plus Hubble. I have spend, even for Fantaisies florales a lot of time, not to do calculations, but to use at the best PTE in order to run on all PC. It's with this slideshow which doesn't work enough well on d67's PC that I search the reason and found some rules to have smoother slideshows (Fantaisies florales V3 run on most PC even old graphic cards with 32Mb memory). The real reason which make me work as I do is that I am very patient in order to have the result I want, no more else and as many people, I think.

I have see all your show (I knew Hong Kong), there are all fabulous. Peolple would have a good idea to download them, even it take some time. Bravissimo Robby
-
Robbys, your server is very slow, it need more than 2 hours to download Rest in peace, tere will be very few people which will download it. Why don't you put them on Beechbrook Cottage as many people do, Bill's server is quicker and many people will see them.

It depend of what you want to do, if it's a spotlight in a theater you have maybe the best result with 90% or 80% of opacity, it also possible to have in the png file instead of absolu transparency in the hole to put a color at 20 or 30% of opacity to have the spotlight with a little color, it's possible to do many things with this very simple method.
-
Here is the template I did last month on how to do a spotlight, it is also on my page. It's a nice template, because it don't need explanations , it's very easy to do. Since I did it, this effect have been use in a slideshow, I don't know if it's because of this template and the topic on Diapositif or not that it have been used, that's no matter, the idea of how to use it is great.

I have just see Ingrid (very long to download), it's a very nice use of V5 with many third images during fade in/fade out effect, very nice photos too. Good job. Bravo

I didn't understand, because when I use Winzip, the result is OK. In the zip file there is a directory call Cube and a subdirectory call Cube 400 with files which have the same name as in directory Cube, but they are 400 x 400 in the subdirectory and 200x 200 in the directory, it's to give an example on how use larger files as 200 x 200. The PTE file in the subdirectory use the big file, all those of the directory the little ones. Thank you Al, it seems when I read a recent post that some people don't think as you. I agree with them than PTE is to use good photos, good sound and good ideas, but why not some new effects from time to time also. It's easier to laugh at those who here put their job than to do it. For those who are hilarious : I haven't do the two last templates about cubes for me, I don't need them (neither the album photo, my slideshow is finish). At least to laugh, it's good for health

I made in september a first 3D cube, I used all the works I did, to make a new slideshow in october with better and lighter cubes than those of the templates which were on line on the net. I didn't think at this time to have to work again on cubes, but Tom (tom95521) had the idea to make a web page that generate PTE file. He needs for that some templates and with my agrement, use the template of the cube I did, but I found the template wasn't enough good and Tom asked for a transparent cube, so I did a new one with transparency, but there were some problem with 2 faces found by Al and Thedom was disappointed by the size, so I redo this new version with more options. There are some differences with the previous version : - Doubling of the file by a version turning in the other way. - Correction of the position of the sights 3 and 4 (back to front on 2 sights) - Add two PNG versions - Add a version with progressive appearance of the cube - Modification allowing the use of any size of files-images (necessarily squared) - Correction of small imperfections. - Lighter template for calculation. - Several examples. - Explanations in french and in english (it looks like english ) I don't know how Tom will succeed to put in his tools the differents options, I hope it's good for him. It's possible to use the templates as there are today but it's a little bit difficult as with Tom's generator when it will be finished. You can download these templates from this post on Diapositif (there are some explanations for french speaking people) or from this link. I hope this work will be usefull for all.

Good work, many ideas and nice result, I really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.

If you need the template with new files and new keypoints, send me you email at diapositif@free.fr

I downloaded it.I have just to say the same thing that I put in the help of the second file I did for helicopter, you don't need to have so big picture for the bird and wing with the same quality (maybe better). With a 118 x 118 size picture for the bird and 97 x 42 for the wings are enough to have exactly the same result. You can put this two objects that you first reduce of 39% and cut the transparents parts as children of the background in original mode. It's lighter for graphic memory (about 1.6Mb) and mainly for calculation, so it's smoother. It's possible to have only 80ms between keypoints, for lower values it begins to have problem on my PC.

Mike, I am working to make the use of the album easier, but it take a lot of time and there are many problems to solve, I hope I'll have new thing to put on line as soon as possible.
