  1. What about PNG, a useful format for images which are partially transparent? Regards, jt
  2. This will be quite useful for users who work in an AdobeRGB environment (including monitor), and who want export a presentation that is to be shown on an sRGB projector, but is less than we could expect from the topic "Test of color management" from February 2014. This feature has to be optional, and not mandatory. Otherwise, users with AdobeRGB monitors will have problems, and users with a pure sRGB workflow do not need it at all. Regards, jt
  3. Oh dear! Pluralis Majestatis
  4. Why should it help to give any information on version 9? It only shows the difference between the two editions of version 8 Regards, jt
  5. You should not overinterprete these statistics. For example, they seem to indicate that 66% of German AV producers who submit productions to festivals would use PTE. I would be glad if this were true, but it isn't. I am sorry to say that many AV people in Germany even do not know PTE. They typically use Wings and MO. Regards, jt
  6. While programming an AV sequence, I work with images at full resolution (16 MP). Image size optimization is a later step in my workflow. Now problems arise when I use about 10 images within a single scene (slide). The slide is shown correctly in the preview, but inside the O&A window a few images remain invisible. This seems to be a problem of resources. So I would like to see an optimization for the O&A window. This window should show the same behavior as the normal preview in case of a "large" number of high resolution images within a single scene (slide). Best regards, jt
  7. Why should anyone disagree? Regarding the old topic including a suggestion of my alter ego: It still would be fine to see the feature of dragging slides from one project window to another one. Regards, jt
  8. Highlight your slide, and open the objects & animation window. In the left upper corner of this window you will find buttons for adding videos, mask constructions, frames, buttons, texts, rectangles, and images. Regards, jt This thread should be moved to "General Discussion".
  9. I think that "Virtual size of slide" is one of the least understood concepts in PTE. It has been introduced when the so-called "Original mode" was cancelled. For a normal user the virtual size serves as input for an aspect ratio, for a show that shall not be restricted in scaling (see davegee's post above). But it has an additional effect. It serves as the reference value for the size/position tool in the O&A window. I myself have never used this feature. Maybe that a few French colleagues who build up scenes with lots of objects will use it? Regards, jt
  10. A computer scientist would call it a container, and that's what it is. But I think that a lot of users would not be happy with the notion of container. In my opinion the word slide is rather outdated. The French call it "vue" (view), which I like much more than slide. The worst situation is to be seen in the German UI of PTE, There the slide is translated by "Bild" (image), with the consequence that German users insert images (real images) into an image (slide). I would prefer to see the word "scene", which would mean that a PTE show would consist of a sequence of scenes and transitions between them. Regards, jt
  11. 2 GB is a general restriction for 32-bit-programs. Regards jt
  12. PTE is a 32-bit-application. As a consequence, exe-files must not exceed the size of 2 GB. You may program your show with the option (in the Properties tab of the O&A window) not to store videos in the exe-file. Regards, jt
  13. Yes, it does, and it is very good to have this feature. It may be better to have a separate function for locking the image track. Nevertheless this given feature is valuable. Users who care for a precise synchronization of images and music cannot live without it. Otherwise it would be very difficult to avoid incidental shifts that would destroy the synchronization. I always lock the image track. While pressing the control key I can do the shifts. Regards, jt
  14. PTE produces exe-files that are 32 bit programs. They should not be larger than ~2GB. You may try the option for videos: Do not include into Exe. Regards, jt
  15. This thread may not be an advertising campaign for Adobe (in the first place), but perhaps for these tutorials Regards, jt
  16. I am not very happy about this advertising campaign for Adobe. Although I use Photoshop CC myself, I am also not very happy about the subscription model, sharing some of the reservations mentioned by Judy and Urmas. This thread should be locked Regards, jt
  17. What about using the Windows Volume Mixer? Regards, jt
  18. I agree with Denis. The situation is good as it is today. The mouse cursor changes in cases of clickable texts or images, which does not make much sense for buttons, as they can be made to show their own action. I would not like to see two actions (cursor and button) to indicate that the mouse is hovering over a button. Regards, jt
  19. Why not, sooner or later! You may follow the advice of davegee (if I am allowed to say this ) Some users will bother about the bugs in the old version, some will complain about the new design. So do whatever you like to do. Regards, jt
  20. It seems that the forum software does not show the correct number of views of topics but stays at the value of 0 as long as there are no replies. The correct number comes in after the first reply (bug or feature?). Regards, jt
  21. jt49

    Two tips.

I have known no. 2 for a long time, and it is quite useful. Regarding no. 1, I ask myself: Is is a feature, or is it a bug? Regards, jt
  22. The discussion now has reached the level of personal offense. My (only) alter ego who definitely finished posting in 2013 (the same time when fh1805 stopped posting) perhaps would have continued this discussion. jt does not Regards jt
  23. Hi Dave, in my opinion, you present a solution in a situation where there isn't a problem. Let us look at a typical situation where I would like to see an image that can be linked and animated across slides: Think of an image that performs slow movements (e.g. pans and zooms) over a period of (say) three minutes. Now think of this image as background or (kind of) stage for a presentation of changing arrangements (collages) of small images, partially animated. Add some music and perform the changes of images using slide transitions (in oder to do a good synchronization of image changes and the beats of the music). So you will see about 30 slides or more, not all having the same duration. With an AV tool that uses parallel tracks, the situation is easy. You can freely handle the common background in a single track. All other images will live on other tracks on top of the background. In PTE the situation is difficult as the background has to be inserted into each slide, and therefore a free animation of changing pans and zooms over the full period of three minutes causes trouble. So the video solution isn't that bad: You first program just the animated background using a single slide with a duration of three minutes, and export it as a video. In your final show you link this video through all your 30 slides. Of course you could also use the method of Jean-Cyprien, but it would be a hard job. There are other situations where linking of images would be fine, e.g. if you work with partial dissolves, it would be fine to have images that start animations somewhere in the middle of a slide and that end somewhere (say) two slides later. Best regards, jt
  24. I am glad to read this. The incident that I have mentioned is about two years ago. There will be a similar event in November, and I will do some tests in advance. Best regards, jt
  25. The topic of linking and animating images across slides has been addressed here in a thread from 2011. It is far more complex than what is provided in these styles. These styles (more or less) do what davegee has described in the same tread, see here , and in my opinion it is not a very useful concept. A tricky workaround has been provided by Jean-Cyprien (here), but it is not that comfortable to use. In 2011 the feature had been on Igor's to-do-list (here), a long time ago Regards, jt
