  1. This is my first wholly own produced AV show including pictures & music. The music was composed & played on my Yamaha MX61 Synthesizer. The pictures are from a holiday in Kent in 2014, and our day in Dungeness. The day was very dull with scattered showers so I've converted the images to monochrome & together with the style of music hope they combine to produce the mood I wanted. The show is on YouTube, which incidentally this weekend my channel logged its forty thousandth hit. It runs for just over 3 minutes with 30 slides, 1 video clip & 1 music track. Comments welcomed. 2. Just completed another of my lamps in the Orchestral series. As usual it features in an AV show. The show runs for 4 minutes, has 40 slides 5 video clips & a YT video background. There is one music track which was edited to fit the show, (spot the joint?). It's on Youtube, the link is. Yachtsman1.

    Snare Drum Lamp

Those of you who follow my stuff may remember the year before last I constructed a series of what I called Orchestral Lamps, up-cycled musical instruments made into lamps. There was a clarinet, guitar, violin, trumpet & a drum, the drum I intended to use as a shade for the clarinet but it proved too heavy so it ended up with a conventional shade. After my op' at Christmas, I wanted to get my hands & mind going again so I laid aside my camera lamp projects & resurrected the orchestral lamps, this time using a snare drum as a lamp in its own right. As with previous projects, I have created an AV show to promote the lamp, & it's on YouTube. Being a Queen fan, Roger Taylor their drummer features heavily in the show. If you are susceptible to flashing lights, beware there are lots. Yachtsman1.

    Secret Spain

Two weeks ago we went to Spain to attend one of our Granddaughters wedding. I made a show of the wedding, this show covers the 6 days we were not involved with the wedding. I thought I wouldn't be able to upload it to any of the hosting sites as it was over 400MB. This evening I received an Email from Vimeo which I joined a few weeks ago as another string to my storage bow. I didn't realise I could up-load up to 500MB per month free, so I have just uploaded it to there. Mechanics, It is 425MB, so I don't assume there will be many wanting to upload what is essentially a set of holiday snaps. There are 150+ slides 10% of which I downloaded from the internet, & 20+ video clips & it runs for 24 minutes with 9 music tracks & a full length voice over. It was made for our family enjoyment as it contains memories of our sailing life in the Med'. WARNING, it contains graphic scenes of Spanish bullfighting. It took over 2 hours to up-load this video & it had only reached the SD stage, hopefully this link will enable it to be streamed live. https://vimeo.com/137287303 Yachtsman1.
  5. James Garner gave me a lot of pleasure over the years, with his films particularly Grand Prix & The Great Escape, but mainly from his antics in The Rockford Files. The series is being repeated on UK BBC2 TV, so it got me hooked again watching the repeats. So that was the inspiration for this show. Runs for 4+ minutes, 16-9 aspect ratio, mixture of edited video & stills from the internet. Youtube download. Yachtsman1
  6. As things are quiet on here I've been making the odd visit to the Audacity forum. There was a question on there I thought I had the answer for concerning USB connected mikes. I started using USB mikes a few years ago & found if I didn't plug in the mike before opening Audacity, It was difficult to find once opened. Someone on the Audacity forum was having the same problem so I gave them my solution, which they came back & thanked me for. I tagged the thread & today, one of the regular experts added that the same thing could be done with the transport function. In my 6 years of using Audacity I never used the transport function, which is on the top info bar on the current version, how long it's been there I don't know. Anyway, if you forget to plug in your USB mike before opening Audacity, go to Transport, scroll down to Rescan Audio Devices & select your USB mike or any other USB devise. Yachtsman1.

    Masks My Way.

Earlier this year, one of the members commented on the complicated masks I'd used in one of my slideshows. As I had never mastered PTE's mask section I didn't realise I had been using masks, constructed by myself & Adobe Elements 10. I gave a verbal explanation of "how to" to the member, with the thought that it may be a subject for a future suitable tutorial. Then this week the subject came up again, so, as I'm about to be incapacitated for some time, I dusted off Camtasia & produced a PTE AV show entitled "Masks My Way". I've tried to simplify the topic, but I could have easily spent double the time going into masks in depth, as it is, this one runs for around 13 minutes. It has a few gloopers, but what the heck, it's for free. It's on YouTube. Yachtsman1
  8. I got involved with a thread about video editing this week. As I've edited a couple of hundred video clips using various versions of PTE, I thought I could help. However as the thread progressed it became obvious the thread starter was using a technique I hadn't used before. IMO the method being used was over complicated & the method I use much simpler. So I have put together a 4 minute sequence on my basic editing method. The clip & still shot is from one of my Grandchildren's wedding that I attended in October. The video clip was taken with the camera resting on the dining table during the speeches, the laughing young lady in the background is Fedra another of our Grandchildren, who older members will remember from a couple of years ago when she was doing her A level Photography & a show I produced from her "Urban Abstract" shots. The show is on YouTube, which unfortunately still decimates PTE's animation. Yachtsman1

    "Kent Mixture"

As I was unable to upload this to SSC, I've uploaded it to Dropbox. It is out of sequence in the series of shows made from pictures taken on our holiday, 2 still to finalise. This one is composed of left over images we couldn't categorise. I've dedicated it to Betty one of our Stirling Court computer club members who passed away while we were on holiday. Mechanics, 15mb, 38 slides, 16-9 aspect ratio, slide size fixed, 2 music tracks. Yachtsman1. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ix4uln1vr15osdq/Kent%20Mixture.zip This is also available on Slideshow Club.
