claudia26 Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 Hi Hawk and thanks for the swift response . As to the situation : the icon is not active although I see the symbol . No response when I click on it . Quote
Hawk Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 ClaudiaWhat version of PTE are you using.I have tested with .WAV file and waveform works fine here. (ver 6.0)Can you try a MP3 without messing up your presentation, to see if icon works. What settings do you show in "View" - "Timeline Options" - "Display Waveform As" Quote
nobeefstu Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 ClaudiaHi I am not able to get the waveform visible on the timeline although the wav file is loaded and playing .any suggestions ?ClaudiaSimple Test : Open the wave file in Windows Sound Recorder (sndrec32.exe) and play the file. If you dont see a waveform in the sound recorder display you need to convert the format to PCM.*Note : make sure you perform your format conversion on a file copy so as to keep the original file in tact if need be. claudia26 Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 Hi , Thanks for the reply ; the wave file already is PCM , about four minutes with a size of 88MB and 3072kbps ; 32 bit ; 48khz Audio sample rate - I see the icon but can't click on it because the frame is not active .Is there maybe a template out there that I could simply copy and adapt ?Claudia Quote
davegee Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Claudia,Just thinking out loud here:A normal WAV file would be 44.1KHz and 16 Bit.I'm not sure that PTE supports 32 Bit 48KHz WAV files - maybe it does? Why not do what everyone else does - convert to MP3?256Kbps and 44.1KHz Stereo is ideal and possibly TOO high a quality depending on your audience.DG Quote
claudia26 Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 SUCCESS !!!! It actually didn't like the 32 bit . I tried MP3 as well as Wave in 16 bit and the waveline comes up ! Thanks a million . You've all helped me a lot . Happy to have joined the forum . Will no doubt be back with more puzzles since I am new to this .Claudia Quote
rogern Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 I started to use WAV files because of Codec problems and was advised to convert them back to MP3 (I used Audacity) otherwise I could experience problems.I would try this or use another MP3 to see if you still have problems.Roger Quote
fh1805 Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 I'm not sure that PTE supports 32 Bit 48KHz WAV files - maybe it does?Dave,I've had problems with 32bit PCM WAV in the past. I think you could be right?regards,Peter Quote
