Creating .avi files to burn multiple slideshows

Hi guys, please help

- I want to burn multiple slideshows to a DVD to be played back on a TV. I figure I would save them all as an .avi file and then use Nero to burn it. Would that work well?

- Also, when I created a slideshow with an .avi file, the images did not do a smooth fade in/out transition. Why is that?
