Hi

I have downloaded several presentations including "England 2003" and I am unable to open them - something about an error. How should I gain access to these? :(

Thanks, John

Please give a file description

England 2003 comes down as a zip file

England 2003.zip

and is 15,545 kb

the zip has to be opened

and the file that was in the zip is

England 2003.exe

and is 16,090 kb in size

does your download compare to mine?

Hello Ken

My Zipped file is 15.1 mb.

'file format corrupted' or 'error reading the file' or similar wording) appears when I try to unzip it. Have tried with XP's own unzip prog. and Tweak-xp.

Thanks for your reply, .John

PS: have just tried again and it says the file is password protected!

Well that is strange because mine is not password protected

and i just verified my size -- it is the same as yours - 15.1mb but the bracketed size was the size i quoted originally.

did you write to Bill Hines at Beechbrook and ask if has uploaded a password protected version

you can reach Bill at

cottage@beechbrook.com

can you open any other files from Beechbrook

can you open other zip files that you may have

John, just downloaded "England 2003", and unzipped without problems with WinZip. It's not password protected!

Try to download it again. Maybe your .zip file is really corrupted (sometimes this happens to me too, and I must download again).

The more I try the more confused I get!

Have done several 'tests' today."DEMPSTER HIGHWAY" came down sweetly and I enjoyed watching it, as did "MONOCLE LENS" and "RUSSIAN SUMMER", from Club 1.44. However,"TOYS" and "AUTUMN" from Beechwood were corrupt - in one instance I was told "bad CRC4e292846 (should be 8a2ea1b6).

I think I was successful with small files from Beechbrook. Will check again.

I am now in territory I do not understand ;)

Thanks for the ongoing help - I am sure I am not the only one grateful for this.

By the way, I have obtained trial version of Winzip 8.1 to do these.

Hi again

(I started this post and then lost it - I hope this doesn't turn up as a duplicate!)

Thank you all for your suggestions and assistance. I have 'found' ENGLAND 2003' in the PTE folder, and it works. I have also downloaded others including BLACK COUNTRY, my favourite to date, and am bound to ask "how is it done?"

So all would seem to be working well enough.

I must move on and would like to repeat the question I asked somewhere some time ago. I have PINNACLE STUDIO 8 and HFX, SERIF MOVIE PLUS, and XP MOVIE MAKER, and ROXIO CREATOR 6 - all of which are capable of producing audio visual shows.

Question - Why would I need PicturesToExe? I like everything about it that can be deduced from the trial version, but what does it do that the others can't? Are ALL of the PTE presentations made solely with PTE? If not what other programmes are involved?

(Oh dear have I overdone it!) :) - for now-

Thanks again

Did you think to ask the author of Black Country

barry@bbdigital.co.uk

how he made the show?

also the show was mentioned

http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...&t=769&hl=black

you can add your question to Barry in the thread. I am quite sure Barry will answer the question -- our members are more than willing to share.

when you download a show from BeechBrook you can also get the author's address by clicking the right portion of the specific window of the show you want to download

you did not say what the problem was with the downloads other than you got them going --how?? we may need to use your answer to help some other person

as to your

Question - Why would I need PicturesToExe?

please start a new thread in this section of the forum

http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index....php?act=SF&f=2

i suspect somebody will convince you of the merits of investing in the program

Will do.

Thanks for the advice
you did not say what the problem was with the downloads ..............
To be honest I don't know. I am treading waters I don't really understand, but learning all the time! :) Some come through cleanly and I can view them, some come with an error code, and one I found lurking in the PTE folder in My Documents. There doesn't seem to be a constant anywhere. If I note anything I will post it. I have recently changed from Tiscali (Lineone) to BT Broadband - had some bother, but my son sorted that out (we silver servers need all the help we can get ). Perhaps that had something to do with it. But like I said, must move on. Anything of note will be posted.

as to your

Have done.

I do appreciate the help offered, which is gratefully received.

Well one thing you can be sure of John, if a show doesnt work proper, the author will be informed pronto by the other members of the forum -- we are a greedy bunch and want to see the latest and greatest show B)

Hi,

Just to let you know that I have registered PTE.

The downloading problem seems to be due to glitches during the download. Repeating the process straight away ultimately results in success. I marvel at the craftsmanship of the shows and enjoy them immensely.

Thank to everyone for your help and advice.

I make this a daily call, and look forward to continued association with you all.

Perhaps one day I will be able to contribute in like manner. ;)
