KyDan Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Greetings!I have watched Lin Evans wonderful "basictexttutorial.avi". Basic Text TutorialThank you Lin!Still have a question.....I find that my text is sometimes lost in the clutter of the picture. Is there a way to make the text box opaque so the text canhave a mono colored background? Thanks!Dan D.Louisville, Kentucky USA Quote
xahu34 Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Dan,Add (in the O&A window) a Rectangle to your slide, fill mode "Solid", and choose an appropriate color. Use asymmetric zooms (independent zooms for x and y) in order to shape the rectangle. Place your text object on top of the rectangle (don't choose the text as a child of the rectangle, because of the zooms). If you want to animate text and background, choose both objects as common children of a transparent frame, and apply animation operations on the frame.Regards,Xaver Quote
davegee Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 You can put a RECTANGLE under the text.Change its size using the grab handles.Change its colour, fill mode etc in O&A Properties.Change its opacity in O&A AnimationDG Quote

fh1805 Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Dan,Further to the replies from Xaver and DaveG, as an alterantive you can also try customising the drop shadow of the text object to help it stand out more. See O&A Common tab for the button to take you there.regards,Peter Quote
KyDan Posted January 11, 2010 Author Report Posted January 11, 2010 . Place your text object on top of the rectangle (don't choose the text as a child of the rectangle, because of the zooms). I guess I am stuck again.I am able to create a rectangle and a text box but when I drag the text box to the rectangle itdisappears behind the rectangle.I am puzzled how to "place the text object on top" of the rectangle.Help!dd Quote

trailertrash Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 I followed the advice given here to Dan. I have a question from it. Can I put a border round the rectangle to make it stand out.I created the rectangle and put the text as a child of it. Reduced the opacity of the rectangle [before adding the text]but would like to have a border round the rectangle. Can this be done?Andrew.[Dan - Sorry for hijacking your question] Quote
fh1805 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Andrew,Yes, you can. You need to add two rectangles, one of them the child of the other and then zoom the child rectangle to a slighter lower zoom value so that its parent appears all around the edge.regards,Peter Quote
trailertrash Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Thanks Peter. Trying that now .Andrew Quote
