denwell
Whilst dropping the opacity of some white text with a drop shadow to zero (and back again)on a slide, I find the dark colour of the shadow background seems to remain present after the text colour has gone - revealing the text shape as grey before both actually fade to zero opacity. This is a little distracting as I would expect the whole text object (text & shadow) to fade together. I have had to resort to Photoshop to get me out of this one - but with the added inclusion of many additional slides to acomplish what should be simply possible within PTE.It would be a useful amendment/addition to any new version, to have the drop shadow opacity consistent with the text.Or is it all an optical illusion? nobeefstu
denwell,My tests dont show a problem here. I believe it to likely be an illusion and may well be more apparent depending what other colors are in the image or background. It could be also your monitor refresh or response rate time is helping to influence the burn-in visual changes. My monitor rate is 2MS.Have you tested on other monitors to check the effect ?Is it more apparent in slow or fast fades ?
Barry Beckham
I think I picked this probelm up a few weeks ago with an animation I was making. I assumed it was operator error, but this post makes me wonder if I should have paid more notice. I was doing exactly what Denwell describes, bringing opacity of an object with a shadow up and down and I could see an effect on the picture that was coming into view.I couldn't recreate it now, but if it shows up again I will save the effect.Just worth being aware of
xahu34
Den,I guess that PTE realizes the shadows via layers!? If the shadow lies on a layer behind the text, and if the text becomes transparent, then you will see the shadow behind it, making the text color darker and a bit grey. If you insert the text (including the shadow) as an externally generated png-file, the fading process will look different.Regards,Xaver
denwell
StuNo I've not tested on another monitor but I will do so, and yes it seems more apparent using white text against light background colours. Maybe this is why I've not been too aware of the effect before.Obviously the faster the fade out the less apparent the effect is.XaverI tend to go with your explanation - using png text generated in PS gets over this 'problem' but is not ideal.BarryI have attached a small PTE project file which shows the effect. This isn't a major worry, more a minor annoyance.Text&DropShadow.zip
Igor
This problems comes from a fact that rendering of layers/objects in PicturesToExe goes independently. If we set 50% opacity for two overlapped objects (text and its shadow) we see a shadow through partially transparent text object. It's like we take two semi-transparent glasses in real life and could see both glasses. To solve this issue we have to put a fully opaque Text object with a shadow onto Mask object and then change opacity of the Mask object. Please see attached EXE file and source files of a test project.OpacityOfObjects.zip
