dpletts Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 A basic slide show of photos taken at Great Yarmouth, many on the occasion of the Great Yarmouth Maritime festival. Some of the slides are a little blurred due to movement of the boat I was on when they were taken.About 4 mins long: 34.7 MBDownload hereRegards to all,David P Quote

gh6539 Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 David,Very nice. As an ex submarine sailor I enjoyed the sceens of the harbor and the surrounding area.Like Ken Wide screeen would have been nice.Great workRegards,George Quote
dpletts Posted November 11, 2010 Author Report Posted November 11, 2010 Thanks George and Ken.As my screen is definitely not wide, being 1280 by 1024, if I were to set the screen to a wide mode in PTE, would that work - and if so, what would be the best setting? I realise that I would see black bands at top and bottom - which I do, anyway, when viewing other wide screen presentations.David P Quote
David Porter Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 Hi David,I watched your show a couple of days ago and was not sure I should comment. But as I have been banging on a bit about lack of comments recently, here goes.I am far from an expert in A/V's but I didn't think your show lived up to the standard of your photography. There are some great pics of ships especially the views of the sails and rigging but they flashed before my eyes far too quickly. Also the tempo did not match your excellent background audio. I know there is keyboard control but that does not improve the quality of the show. I would have liked to see the photos on screen for at least 7 seconds and the transitions time increased considerably but depending on the particular shot. To keep the overall time down, some of the shots could be eliminated. The one zoom I remember was far to fast plus I am not sure of the red wording.Perhaps one specific suggestion. The green ship approaching harbour - why not slowly zoom in on the long shot and about half way fade to the close up shot and maybe fade to a zoomed-in shot of the ship going away then zoom out to finish.I hope you will not be offended by these comments and of course I will accept if others want to shoot me down but I do hope you will find this useful for future work. dpletts Posted November 15, 2010 Author Report Posted November 15, 2010 Hi Mick,I have rather belatedly just up your reply. I am not in the least bit offended by your very helpful comments, and appreciate the ideas you have mentioned. I will certainly bear them in mind for the future. You are also too kind regarding my 'photography' as I do not consider myself as much of a photographer. I know there were a lot of pictures in the presentation, but I didn't want it to be too long. Yes, I could (should) have left some of them out. Being able to stop the show at any point is not much of an answer as the sound stops, too, rather spoiling the effect.I'm afraid that what you saw was the result of a rather too hurriedly put together project - I hope I have learned the lesson. Unless people make constructive comments, I would just continue in ignorance and never learn.Thank you for your help,David P Quote
