Al, You knew I'd like this one - didn't you!

Great treatment of a favorite subject of mine. I don't know how it impacts those unfamiliar with that kind of terrain. I assume it is impressive to them too? To me, I think you did everything right to convey some of the feelings and emotions of slot canyons and the like. Wonderful visual intro with the evolving crack-in-the-rock sequence. This will be a show I definitely show friends and family that have tasted such beauty. Can you still pinpoint the locations, ie, which states and canyon names (if they have names) ?

And by-the-way, you make me feel even worse now that this year is almost past without my getting into that kind of land. About two months ago I had a great hike in the Tetons. When finished, I told myself, the next adventure needs to be back down in red-rock country. But alas, we (in this still-drought-stricken land) have been having snow even in the city for the last week. In fact the first ski area opened today! So who knows, your fine show may be as close as I get until spring. Thanks.

Bob,

I made it just for you, and I did know you would enjoy it! Although, I suspect that if we had teamed up on it, we could have put together a far more magnificent show, as I bet you have far more slides of that area than I have, after only two visits to the area.

The canyons we explored were Antelope Cayon, Wire Pass, and Buckskin Gulch (not far from Wire Pass). (I think they were all the on other side of the mountains! )

And I might be wrong in my text "intro" in that the last two might be in Utah, but very close to the Arizona-Utah border. Are you familiar with the Paria Wilderness area at all? You must be. I know we crossed into Utah after leaving Page, but we also doubled back down a side road into the Wire Pass area. That was between 10 and 15 years ago. It rained the morning my wife and I drove down that dirt road, and the top layer was like a sheet of axle grease! We came so close to sliding off the road it was scary! Then we ran out of gas, as we hadn't planned on driving so far off the road, and I had to hitch-hike into Kanab to get some fuel to see us to the next service station!

I'm kicking myself, too, that we weren't able to spend more time in that area this spring on our hasty trip across the Southwest to the West Coast.

Speaking of the West Coast, I enjoyed your show, "That's what makes us sing", from the Oregon coast. (I still haven't figured out which one is you, though, you all look so young! ).

That's another magnificent area where one could spend a lot of time. We drove up along the coast this spring, but it was raining the whole time, so we didn't spend much time there. Besides, we were in a hurry to get to Seattle to see our son and new grandchild. :) Maybe when the little guy gets a little older we will be able to go back and spend some holidays with them down along the ocean.
