A SIMPLE VCD FOR NOW?

 Does one have to burn only a dvd? Can I just use my Roxio Platimum5 and burn for now a "VCD with my .avi file: (using my cd burner)

Can I preview before I burn?

This may be getting into a sort of upper income program for me for now. I think I am going to need a Digital Vid Camera, a program to capture my tape and edit just to get to the new P2E AVI program. And then purchase the "Ulead Factory2" and a DVD Burner

I'll for now just sit back in my seat, in the background, and study the forum.

But please, someone let me know if I will need all this new hardware?

Harry

:o I still don't know if I can preview my .exe/vcd before I burn. Yes/no

I have been doing this at my chruch Bible class. I video with digital camera Canon XL and then capture from video to computer and then use Premiere 5.1 to edit.

I would need all that stuff in my computer and also upgrade my ram and perhaps increase my HD which is only 20 GB and of that half is used up already. I would have to capture in segments.

I could do all my taping and capturing at church and put the segments on a CD and bring them home to finish up the job.

What I really need is a bigger and more powerful computer!

I don't think that will happen for a few years from now unless I get a windful of money.

But our church computer that I use is only a 98 SE PII w/ only 198 MB of Ram. So I could increase my ram from 96 to somewhat over 200 and that would work. I have the Premier 5.0 that was given to me.

It seems that I have solved some of my problems!! But I will stay with just CD's for now I am a long way from DVD burning. I would rather have a new computer for that. I can't upgrade to 98SE frist unless I increase my RAM then I can use the new Roxio 6 of which I have.

Yes, Harry you can preview before you burn. You can first preview your PTE show as you always have. Then, you push the avi button on PTE main screen. When the conversion to .AVI is done, a little pop-up box informs you to use whatever external software that will burn you a VCD, SVCD or DVD. As long as you leave that pop-up box open, the .avi file which you just created can be previewed by Windows Media Player or many other players. My brief experience (see PTE video to disks for TV) is that the actual burned SVCD plays much smoother than the avi file that I reviewed prior to actually burning. :D
