David Porter Posted July 19, 2011 Report Posted July 19, 2011 Here's an EXE showing the methodology for making a Truncated Icosahedron (Football to you and I) in PTE.I'm off for a large brandy, I think I'll understand it better then!!!! Quote
SheilaG Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 Hi Dave,I love seeing these 'solid' shapes, and knowing how you've constructed them. My husband, on the other hand, hates them as he knows that I won't rest until I've had a 'play' with them and that means there will be no food on the table for quite a while!!I'm with MickP on this, as well, but I'll make mine a stiff whisky! Thanks anyway,Sheila G Quote
davegee Posted July 20, 2011 Author Report Posted July 20, 2011 Five minutes spent preparing your measurements will save an awfully long time at the construction phase.BTW the "truncated triangle" (hexagon) that I speak of in the EXE should be made from the same original triangle.Use the pen tool in PS at MAXIMUM zoom and you'll have a really accurate 426Hx492W triangle.DG Quote
ContaxMan Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 Very clear explanation and an impressive result! Quote
davegee Posted July 22, 2011 Author Report Posted July 22, 2011 New Improved and Updated.Anyone see the difference?DGFootball2.zipP.S. Best viewed at 1920x1080.If you are viewing at any other res you might see some unintended effects. The resolution problem strikes again!! Quote
Ken Cox Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Daveruns smoother and rotation seems fastermy xp avg blocked it again - had to give it an allow functionKen Quote
davegee Posted July 22, 2011 Author Report Posted July 22, 2011 Hi Ken,The difference is not with the smoothness or the speed of rotation.DG Quote
Ken Cox Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 gee missed again i dont have a strobe to measure the rotationken Quote
davegee Posted August 9, 2011 Author Report Posted August 9, 2011 Apologies guys,I meant to get back to you on this but a holiday got in the way.The difference between the new and original versions is the in the newer version the Pentagons are solid faces wheras in the original they were just black holes looking through onto the black of the shadow.DG Quote
