RayPar
I use a Sony DRU500 which I paid about $300 for almost a year ago. Sony has a later version called DRU510A for $179 and a $30 mail-in rebate ($150.00 after rebate). It supports all formats (DVDR+, DVDR-, DVD-RW+ and DVD-RW-) at speeds of up to 4x. Mine has been extremely reliable with no coasters so far.You can pick up a DRU-510A at BestBuy for $179 minus $30 rebate. At that price it is a bargain. jcsdmd
I have used the Pioneer DVR-105 for over 30 discs now with no coasters. I use Pinnacle Studio 8 for DVD encoding and authoring.Check out www.dvdrhelp.com for a comparison of most available writers complete with reviews. Danabw
Another vote for the Sony DRU 500/510, etc. Used it since it was introduced (cost $350 then!! - ouch) and it has been fantastic - no problems. Dana
