AVI file - not yet succeeded in getting it!!

I didn't succeed yet in getting an .avi file from PTE that can be read by either Ulead Movie Factory 2 or TMPGEnc. I have also obtained from PTE an uncompressed .avi file that CANNOT be read by any player, including WMediaPlayer, nor can be read by TMPGEnc!

Do I need to change/set something specific in PTE? Do I need specific codecs or renderers installed?

The error messages I get when trying to read or play the .avi files produced by PTE are: "The file format is not supported by " Windows Media Player

"can not open, or unsupported" TMPGEnc

"Unable to open file - File reading error" when trying to add video to Ulead MovieFactory2

I am using XP Home edition

Windows Media Player series9

Directx9

Is there somebody that can drive me to the success?

I am using PTE since almost three years and have really appreciated it till now.

gufosenior,

Sorry to hear of your unsuccesful experience ... theres many a posts floating in this forum with ya's and na's in success. So you got your handsfull reading them all ... esp since they mount day by day.

I have no way to produce a DVD as of this time ... and Im in no hurry to watch Pte on TV or create another file format to watch on a PC thats inferior quality to the executable version.

So I can not be of much help in this new feature ... but here's a start :

It occurs because you use our own video codec to produce AVI file and it doesn't create real AVI file, but only link/bridge between PTE and player which opens this AVI file. We've prefered this way, because it save time on additional encoding and provides maximal quaility of video. But of course, you can choose another codec which will allow you to produce usual stand-alone AVI file, but it will has losses in quality if you will want to re-encode it into DVD.

as Stu said you are going to have to read every thread to understand how this new process works

when p2e creates an avi from the exe it made, the resulting avi is only a temp file

you must not click finish until you have created a vcd/svcd/ or a dvd with your dvd creating software

then when you click the finish tab in p2e the avi disappears

saving that avi file is useless as there is only music played back -- the p2e program uses other system files when it makes the avi temporarily

this is how Igor has designed the program and he mentions it elsewhere why he has built it that way

Ken,

thanks for your reply, before initiating a new thread I have read almost all what has been written on the subject in the forum.

Definitively I followed the indications of not closing PTE (nor pushing finish on the pop-up window) before having finished the production of the final DVD through Ulead Movie Factory.

I have also uninstalled and reinstalled PTE with no different result.

It looks like if PTE is producing a non-readable temp avi file!

Which "other system files" PTE uses? Do I need to check if they are all properly installed on my machine?

Thanks

pasquale

the system files usage was mentioned by Igor in one of th threads -- he will have to answer what files -- i think they were associated with windows media player

see Nobeefstu's reply above

PTE and Igor are both amazing.

Great program, responsive author. I have never gotten anything but great praise and thanks from those to whom I have recommended PTE.

Can't say the same as far as the support is concerned!

My e-mails sent to wnsoft-support on this subject dated respectively Dec 2 and Dec 4 havn't got any replies nor an aknowledgement.

About the program i recon it is a great one and I am using it since more than 2 years.

Best regards

Pasquale
