Guest Yachtsman1 Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 I'm planning a show for Christmas for the residents of the retirement apartments where we now live. The menu contains 14 exe files controlled by buttons from the title page. I've done the hard bits but can't seem to be able to control the menu music so that it only plays when the menu pages are visible & goes off when the Exe's run, I'm sure it's something simple but can't seen to tick the correct boxes. I'm using PTE 6.0.4. Yachtsman1 Quote
Ken Cox Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 ERIC there is a tutorial at Beechbrook that may help"AVMenuTutorial is a Pictures to Exe tutorial describing how to use Pictures to Exe to create a 'menu' which can launch a number of other sequences eg for an AV show.AVMenuTutorial.exe is the tutorial.AVMenuTutorial.doc is the text of the tutorial as a Word 2000 document."Author's PTE Presentation Notes Presentation Name: AV Show Menu TutorialDownload Count: 3318File Size: 12.7MContributor: Andrew ChadwickContributor's Email: ajc@neweng.freeserve.co.ukNotes: A 20 minute tutorial describing how to create an audio-visual show menu using Pictures to Exe. Lin Evans Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 By all means read the tutorial Ken pointed to, but for now just put your menu music in as a "comment" from the Main screen rather than add it via the "music" option from the Project Options - that "should" solve your problem... I no longer have the older version on my system, so can't check it - but my suggestion would be to build a very simple one button menu which calls one exe file and post the PTE file so we can check it and see what you have done. I don't see that problem with 7.01 with either the sound comment or the music added via the project option as long as you set the button property to run a slideshow and return. I can't remember when changes were made. If you have the original PTE files for all the exe's which constitute the show, you could just recompile in 7.01 and quickly open your menu there and test it. Guest Yachtsman1 Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 Hi Lin & KenSorry but none of your suggestions has worked. No matter what I set the ticks to or where I add the music to I get one of the following 1. Menu music continues when exe's run, or 2. Menue music only runs for a couple of second on first black slide. Rest of menue operates perfectly. Only suggestion I can think of for now is to kill the menue music. However the show isn't planned until early December so there is plenty of time.Regards EricYachtsman1. Quote
Lin Evans Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 One option which "will" work if you have the original PTE files is to simply install 7.01 and recompile everything. If all you are dealing with is a simple menu (the rest are mp3's) and no real "slideshows," just install 7.01 and compile your menu from you PTE file. This should solve the problem quickly. 7.01 will co-exist just fine on your system with your older version....Best regards,LinP.S. I've made you a working sample - menu with two songs and all associated PTE 7.01 files zipped into a single archive and linked below:http://www.lin-evans.org/eric/foreric.zip (about 28 meg)Just download and extract the files into a single folder. Click on the menu executable and test it. I think this is what you are looking for - it will just bring you kicking and screaming into version 7.01 and when you have finished with the menu you can go back to 6.xxBest regards,Lin Quote
nobeefstu Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 Eric,Using the Run SlideShow with Return option should easily solve your problem ... however all your shows need to be compiled in v6.04I have also attached a v6.04 single slide project zip that should also work for your needs using the basic Run Application option. Compile the project and just add your own show1.exe and a show2.exe .*When building with your own music ... make sure you use Syncronize Music and Slides and also set the Timed Points at End of Last Slide at End of Music in the Timeline. The attached file should at least get you startedProject1 ss menu_Nov4-2011_20-40-24.zip Quote
Guest Yachtsman1 Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 Thanks Ken, Lin, Nobeefstu. I've now completed the menu as well as it's going to be. I'll explain as I go. The 14 exe's were composed of a mixture of 6.0.4 & pre humming bird shows. I did this A) because I thought I'd done it before & got it to work as I wanted, but it was 12 months ago, so I may be wrong. I can't convert the pre humming bird shows because some have bits & pieces missing so I could only find one of four which I could convert easily. So that leaves 3 old exe's. So as a compromise, the menu starts silently with a Black slide, manual advance, picture, title, then menu buttons. After the show, manual advance & end music starts added via customise end slide, & fade to black slide. By this time we'll all be asleep, so I don't think it will be noticed. Thanks againEricYachtsman1. Quote
Ken Cox Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 Ericas long as you are happy, that's all that matters )but be reminded"JESUS SAVES"shows and their parts in folders ))))))))))ken Quote
Guest Yachtsman1 Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 I Ken, I do I do, but somehow after 4 computers some bits fell by the wayside, it only needs an odd tune or picture to do the damage. I think since I got my 1TB hard drive, everythis is triple saved. Two LT's a DT & the HD. Regards EricYachtsman1.PS plus Mediafire Quote
