When I place a small image on top of another one, I often give the small image a drop shadow. If the small image is obtained from a bigger one using a (rectangular) mask, there is no chance to produce the shadow. Of course there are workarounds using objects in lower layers outside the mask container, but I would not like to discuss these workarounds here. What I would like to see is the drop shadow option for the mask itself. The mask defines the area in which part of my image is shown, and I would like it to have this area shown with an (optional) shadow.
