Delicate Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Dear friendsI have an inserted video clip in a PTE show. It's a speach.I would like to fade out the speach audio still letting the video clip to run.Is there a way to do this?Because the audio is a part of the video clip, I can't control the audio via Project opitions/Music->Thanks,Jan Quote
Guest Yachtsman1 Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 One way is to rip the audio from the video, convert it to MP3 if it isn't then add it in via the customise slide option, assuming you are using a current version of PTE after the sound option was enhanced. Yachtsman1. Quote
fh1805 Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Jan,You need to be aware of the possibility that following Yachtsman1's suggestion has the potential to destroy the "lip synch" associated with filming people talking or singing. Once you separate the video from the audio it is no longer possible to "guarantee" that they will run to precisely the same time rate. You may well achieve what you want, but there is a chance that you will have new problems to deal with.I'll be interested to hear how you get on with this. Please do keep the forum updated with your progress.Peter Quote

You can use the Windows Live Movie Maker to fade out the audio of a video file. You can download it from here (free), if you don't already have it:http://download.cnet...4-10965753.htmlJust go to Video Tools and then select the speed of the Fade Out (Slow, Medium, Fast). This should fade out the audio in your video file. But it seems you want to fade out the audio at the middle of the video clip. This will only fade out the audio at the end of the video clip. I guess you could split the video clip just after where you wanted the fade out. Then fade out the end of the first video clip; then add in the second video clip with its audio removed. I am not sure if you can remove audio from a video clip with Windows Live Movie Maker. But you can with Freemake Video Converter (also free). So you can remove the audio from the second video clip and just stitch the two video clips back together. You can probably do this with Pinnacle or some non-free video program if the audio will show up on a separate track, but the two programs I mentioned might get you to where you want to be.I hope this works for you.Gary Quote
Delicate Posted February 28, 2012 Author Report Posted February 28, 2012 (... have beeing away for some days on my winter holiday in the Finnish Lapland skiing, very pleasurable with lot of picture taking...)Thank you guys for your reply.I think you have covered the possibilities. What I finally succesfully did, was to edit the video with Abobe Premiere Elements.I did fade out the audio at the end of the video, but did also adjust the saturation and sharpening to better fit with my other photos. But one additional step via one additional rendering of the video might have reduced the video quality a little. Therefore a possibility to control the audio of a video in PTE would be a nice feature? So far I'm happy with this.Regards,Jan Quote
coopernatural Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 Jan,Avidemux (freeware) in conjunction with a sound editor Audition, Audacity etc. Might let you do what you want without unnecessary re encoding of the video.http://www.homebrewedmusic.com/2009/06/11/audio-for-video-avidemux-and-wavosaur/A short tutorial using Avidemux and another free audio editor Waveosaur.I just tried it, using Adobe Audition as the sound editor. Was able to apply fades etc,no problem.Didn't do anything critical so you might want to try it for yourself.Davy Quote
