digital@picturethis.net Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 RE: Video AVI productionHi, I would like to suggest to the design and programming team that they discontinue the deleting of the AVI file automatically. My goal is to make avi files and save them where I want. Then go back later and use adobe premiere or vegas video or ulead or whatever I want and import the avi files. Currently p2exe wants you to immediately use and import the avi and then click "finish". I despise that. It is a hindrance. Can you just allow us to save the avi and let us delete it when WE want to? Perhaps in the release version of 4.2?Just my opinion. Thanks for listening. Quote
ccmanz Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 digital@picturethis.net , The AVI file that PTE creates is a TEMP File. The PTE program creates the AVI as you watch it, this is why the program deletes the file when you are done. You can select a different VIDEO Codec file with the custom AVI File and it will create a AVI file that you can do as you want. But the file may be a very large file too. I used the Full Frame (uncompressed)On one of the first beta just to see how it worked. It will take longer to create then the TEMP PTE_AVIFile does. Because it will create the AVI before you watch it.The list of Codec you have on your computer will depend on the Codec you have installed. If you have need more help just leave another post.cc Quote
Mattw Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Yes I would also prefer the AVI file not to be deleted, but you can easily work arround this by copying the AVI file before you click the finish button in PTE. Quote
Ken Cox Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Mattwwelcome to the forumthe temp avi file is not intended to be saved -that is the way Igor designed the program - when the p2e program is closed/finished, the saved avi will only play sound.ken Quote
nobeefstu Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 CC and Ken are quite correct.I believe alot of users here tend to believe the TEMP PTE_AVI that PTE creates is a full functioning .avi file ... it is not. It is just a step of a process to produce your avi/vcd/svcd/dvd. You must make a selection of your installed/available Codecs to convert for full functional use.Read Igor' comment : Dec 3It occurs because you use our own video codec to produce AVI file and it doesn't create real AVI file, but only link/bridge between PTE and player which opens this AVI file. We've prefered this way, because it save time on additional encoding and provides maximal quaility of video. But of course, you can choose another codec which will allow you to produce usual stand-alone AVI file, but it will has losses in quality if you will want to re-encode it into DVD.
