I don't have an iPad but I downloaded it and tried it in different media players:

Worked in: Quicktime; VLC; Kantaris

Did Not Work in: Pot Player; Windows Live Movie Player

Played only the Audio: Windows Media Player

I have found at least one video that does play at 2048 x 1280 pixels after downloading using goodreader.

The resolution is amazing on the iPad 3.

I'm still trying to figure out why it plays, maybe due to quicktime container.

That one is Mpeg4, the other is h.264/aac

Regrettably it seems that the new iPad 3 doesn't support H.264 video at 2048x1536.

We will create video at 1920x1080.

PicturesToExe can't create MPEG4 in MOV format.

Indeed the created file is 1920x1536, not 2048x1536. But it better than 1920x1080

Can you please repeat same test in PicturesToExe? Choose output for iPad. And change "High quality" to "Custom". Then click the button "Show more option". Now set the resolution at 1920x1536. Create video file. Will it play on the new iPad?
