verhoef Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I did reply on this, so 2nd try..Original starting with the boat coming across the screen! But...the speed of the pictures and the transitions are too fast comparing to the slow tempo of the music.So.. less pictures would be better. The pictures also could be more saturated and/or have more contrast. Some horizons are not horizontal and can be adjusted in photoshop. With some adjustments this show could be much better.succes!Michel Verhoef Quote
ralvis Posted January 26, 2004 Author Report Posted January 26, 2004 Thankyou for the critique. We need more people to comment onthe shows. I am sure everone whodoes shows would like some feedback.I would agree the speed is too fastbut IMHO the show speed and music speedare not that important to the show.As far as the saturation and contrast I think that oversaturation and oversharpeningis the norm now and it is not the true imagethat we are seeing. One can go to www.photosig.comand see what I mean.I am guilty on this count but I only do heavyprocessing on raw images not jpegs.Anyway enough rambling. Thanks againfor taking the time to voice youropinion.PS.When I got home from work I looked at the images for the show and I hadused my preprocessed images from the wrong directory. Hello McFly.I have changed the music to more modern music which also slows the show down.Give it another try.Ralvis AKA MicroSmith Quote
verhoef Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Ok, I looked again at the show; it has much improved with the funky music and the speed is also correct now.Because I am self a photographer and a member of a photoclub I always pay attention on things which other people might overlook (like sloping horizons, image compositions etc.). So that's the reason I gave the advise in my previous comment.By the way I could not find your presentation on beechbrook.com. Will it be posted there?? I myself have posted some shows there, maybe you like them. Michel Verhoef(from the Netherlands) Quote
ralvis Posted January 27, 2004 Author Report Posted January 27, 2004 I will correct the perspective angles for you andpost it on Beechbrook and have a look at someof yours. Thanks again for the helpRalvis Quote
Lloegyr Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Hello MichelI too have been a photographer for many many years, also a judge for both Photographs and audio visual shows so I know what you mean when you look at sloping horizons. I always called them 'uphill water' and people soon learnt to correct this fault. Very often the attention to small points can make the difference between something which is good and something which is worth many more points.Ralvis I downloaded your first version and had similiar feelings, now I will download you improved version in the light of both yours and Michels comments.MikeMersea Island Quote
ralvis Posted January 27, 2004 Author Report Posted January 27, 2004 Thanks Mike for your comments. As you can tell I am not in the same league asyou 2 guys are for photography. I will paymore attention to the horizon from now on.I think on the 16x9 format the horizontal is even more evident than when running full screen.I will change the horizons on the Sechelt show andhopefully you can check out my future shows andleave me some feedback. Thanks againRalvis AKA MicroSmith Quote
