Okay...I managed to bring the keyboard to the desktop and record...and by turning down the treble get reasonable non-hissy playback.

I decided to try recording from the keyboard to my Dell 8200 laptop but wasn't certain which port to connect to and the manual really didn't seem to indicate any line in. I found a port next to the headphone which did allow me to record but the distortion was terrible and I didn't seem to be capturing one of my channels - the bass side.

I called Dell Tech Support...got some lady in India who didn't really know what I was talking about who asked if it was a ps2 or usb connection! Told me there was no input for recording.

Does anyone know otherwise?

Hi, Isabel,

I use a Dell 8000 for recording sometimes and you're right, the quality is ugly. I can improve it some by temporarily unplugging the power cord and running on battery while recording. There seems to be a loose connection inside, too, which I can resolve by jiggling the plug around inside the jack.

On my laptop, the line-in is the one furthest to the back of the 3 jacks. The jack in the middle is for my headphones, and the one toward the front is for a mic. Good luck!

You are a trooper for sticking with this so long!! Could someone close to Isabel please run over and give her a hand! :)

Thanks, Al...I was recording on battery! Guess I'll have to reorganize the area around the desktop to make room for the keyboard...and I was using the correct input on the laptop.

It was very exciting to hear the Fantom sounds, however, hissy, come out of my computer speakers after I had recorded them. So...I am definitely making progress.

Thanks for the very much appreciated support and thanks for sticking with me!

Isabel
