pati
Please help. I recently bought pic2exe, and have created my slideshow. I only wish to create a slideshow for the computer, with music. I have Roxio CD Creator 5. I tried to use the Data DVD project, but was informed taht there is no supported DVD-recorder detected on the system. I've been reading the posts already listed and saw that I had to use a DVD recording system in order to have music in the slideshow. I am confused. I was able to record slideshows with music with Roxio, but bought pic2exe so that my clients will have a harder time copying the images. All I want is a simple slideshow with music. Can you please help?
ccmanz
Welcome,Once you have the show the way you want it and music is added in PTE.you need to Create The slide show. This will create an EXE file that will play the music and show your pictures. You then can burn this file to a CD. (it does not have to be a DVD).Once it is burned onto the CD You Just need to Dlb click on the File to play the slideshow. You need to make a Data CD with Easy CD 5 to burn this file on the CD.If you need more help just post.I am short on time tonight. But if you need more help Just leave another post I am sure someone will answer you soon.cc
pati
Hi I have followed those steps before and the slideshow is recorded and I am able to see the slideshow with music on my compter (which has Windows XP) when I doubleclick the .exe file on the CD. However, when I try to play the CD on my other computer- which has Win98, there is no music with the slideshow. And yes, I have double checked the speakers and everything is fine. So I don't know why it won't work on other computers.I am using Version 4.20 od pic2exe.Thanks for any more help you can offer. nobeefstu
Welcome Pati !My first guess is that your Music is WMA format. Many WMA files are protected and will not play on another users PC.As a test replace the music with a MP3 file and try again ... or just try and play the WMA music file only on the 98 PC. If the WMA does not play on that PC you know its protected.
pati
Hi, thanks for your opinion as well.I tried your suggestion, and replaced the song with an mp3 file I knew would work- one that I've used with Roxio in the past.It didn't work.Any other suggestions? Here is my step by step:Create Slideshow As- Save the .exe fileOpen Roxio 5 and burn the CD using the Data Burn option. nobeefstu
Pati,Try Ken's suggestion firsttry to copy the exe from the cd to the desktop and try to run it there So what you are saying is that the PTE Show.exe plays just the pictures correctly and no music is heard on the OS 98 CD drive? Or is it that the PTE Show exe starts and freezes with a "still" image remaing on screen and no music ?
Chan
Here is something I found to be true. When I used the Roxio Audiocentral to edit a song sound track (to reduce the silence at the end) and then saved the edited track, Roxio wanted to create a .rxs file. This .rxs file would not play in my slideshow on my Windows XP computer. But, if I had Roxio save the track as a .wav file, the music played in the slide show with no problem.Check to see what format the music track is in, and try other file formates until one works.I hope that this helps. pati
Ok, I'm beginning to feel slightly dumb. It really shouldn't be that difficult, if everyone else has had success with this. Am I supposed to create an avi to create a slideshow? And after I burn the CD, should I click on the finish button? I didn't think that was necessary for a slideshow to be played on the computer. The slideshow works great, it just flows from picture to picture- but the music (.mp3) that I create with the show doesn't play when I use it on other computers. Everyone, thanks for all of your suggestions.. I have tried them all. Except all of my music files are in the form of mp3- and I haven't tried to switch them to .wav yet. But when I bought this program, I was under the impression that I didn't have too. So thanks for all the suggestions, I will keep trying! Guest Techman1
Pati,Don't give up yet! I use .mp3 music files for everything (unless I'm lazy and have the .wav file and don't want to take the time to convert it). Anyway, they should work fine for you.To create a Slideshow, you don't need to create an AVI file. If you are intending to simply play the slideshow on another PC (Windows, not a Mac), then create an .exe file from the menu "Create Slideshow as....". This will prompt you for a name and it will end in .exe.When you have created the .exe file above, run it from the same PC you are using now. If the sound is there and the slideshow is working properly, then try copying this file onto a CD. Once you have the .exe on a CD, make sure the other PC has the volume turned up and try running it from there. If the above works for you, then there are ways to automate the CD running using AutoRun and/or some utilities to help. Do a search on AutoRun to see how this all works. But, first hopefully you'll be able to play your slideshow on the other PC (maybe test it on a third PC if the second one doesn't work properly).Let us know how it goes. But stick in there, cause this is a great program once you've got it all figured out and working!!!!Fred
nobeefstu
Pati,Your postings have me confused too Are you trying to create a Show as a exe file to play on a (PC) CD ? Exe type is a executable that plays from a CDR (burned as data) to be used on PCs only.Or do you want to create a Show as a avi to play (as video on tv) CD ? Avi type is for video that plays on TVs and PCs. ( This reqiures video burning software and a video player to play it)You above posts alternately refer to both ... however both are created and burned to CD quite differently.. pati
Well I have great news! I mailed an .exe slideshow on a CD to a customer. I went ahead and put music with the show- even though I was unsure if it was going to work. She said that the slideshow had music. So obviously there is something wrong with my second computer which isn't allowing the .mp3 to play. It's really a bizarre thing because slideshows created in Roxio work on that computer. Oh well. I am just happy as long as it works on my main computer and the customers'. Thank you all for your advice and I am sorry there wasn't a quick fix answer. LumenLux
Does anyone remember the very old codec that used to remain on the machine even when the Cd "ripper" was removed. I wonder if that could be causing Pati's problem? (It was the first problem I ever encountered with PTE. Once I was able to trace it down through Igor, I bought the software. And I know it has plagued other users from time to time.
