Guest Yachtsman1 Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 My current project involves dismantling camera & projector lenses. Usually these are assembled using threaded rings with inset lugs to fit whatever tool a particular manufacturer uses. Searching around the net, the only supplier I can find is in Hong Kong, I have no problems ordering from Hong Kong other than the time it takes. I have asked on the camera club forum I use but have had no response. So if anyone has a set at the back of a drawer they want to sell/donate to a worthy cause, please let me know.Yachtsman1. Quote
coopernatural Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Eric,Days of the Clippers from HongKong are long gone.Your lens tool will usually take around 7 days to arrive. Before you can get to use this tool you might also need a suitably sized rubber puckto remove the lens cover piece.(try a well known auction site for these). Also on the same site and taking similar time to arrive from the US is Helicoid grease.Just look for 'Helimax-HP'.For cleaning lenses try Amazon for 'Eclipse' cleaning fluid and use this in combination with'Pec Pads'.I recommend looking on a lens forum for some help and guides for people with experience of your lenses. Some of these have to be disassembled - reassembled in a particular way.If you can get a cheap old used lens from a boot sale,Charity shop or auction site, have a practice on that first. You can wreck a lens in about a second,so proceed with caution.Davy Quote
Guest Yachtsman1 Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 The lenses I am dismantling won't be re-assembled for the use I'm putting them to. I've attached a picture of what they will be used for & their sources.Yachtsman1 Quote
