melaniechalk
Hi I am a long time user of PTE and am encountering a problem. I have just completed a sequence and published it but when I play the created sequence the sound track and images are out of sync, I have been back and checked, its all fine in the work in progress, have re-saved, re-published but to no avail. Any suggestions ?

melaniechalk
Thank you for your quick reply, I have unticked that box and have been checking the size of my images and reduced some of them further, thinking the file size may have been too large and making the images "Hang". Just re-created and its still the same!
davegee
The other possibility is that the Audio has been saved as Variable Bit Rate (VBR) rather than the required Constant Bit Rate (CBR).DG
Lin Evans
Could you give us a little more information. Which version of PTE are you using? Which operating system, how many slides, how many audio tracks and how many separate audio selections? Does the video portion consist of only still slides, or do you also have videos in your show? Does the audio consist of only mp3's or are there other audio types? There are several variables which "might" impact the final playback. Does it start in sync and then go out somewhere along the time line or is it out of sync from the first slide? The more information you can provide, the more likely a quick solution.Best regards,Lin
melaniechalk
The Info is PTE 7.5Windows 7 Just still images The audio made in cool edit and saved as MP3 CBR (checked this following Davegee's comment)Just over 5 mins duration 53 images only use of movement on last image. It starts going slightly out about a quarter of the way in and is out by an image when there is a rush of water about three quarter way through, when the image needs to match but is spot on in the work in progress.Just gone into Vista and redone it, but no change. Is that all the info you need?Melanie
Lin Evans
Hi Melanie,Just so we are on the same page, if you click on the "help" then on About PicturesToExe, the version is 7.5.0 or is it a later iteration? If it doesn't say 7.5.10 (that's seven point five point ten) it's isn't the latest version. Just to be safe, if it's not, please install the latest version so we are all on the same page.... There have been ten updates since 7.5.0So the sound track consists of a "single" mp3 which was constructed with Cool Edit? In the Project Options, Audio Tab, what does it give as the exact time length of the audio? When you click on the "Timeline" look at the ending time for the images. Is it identical to the length of time for the audio and does the waveform appear to end in the proper place in relation to the last slide? When you say the time is "out by an image" what is the display time for the image? In other words in "seconds" how far out is the synchronization. How large is your total project? If feasible, it might be a good idea to zip the entire PTE project and post a link so perhaps we can take a look and see if we can find a solution. If you can do this it might make it much easier and quicker because several of us can check it using different systems. If you go to "file" "Create Backup in Zip" the entire project can be zipped to a single archive. davegee
Melanie,Please check you MP3s again? In Audition there are many variations of the MP3 CBR theme and choosing the wrong one has been known to cause problems. My "go to" choice for MP3s for PTE is:256kBps; 44100Hz; Stereo (5.5.1).....and this has never let me down.Try saving your MP3s again with different settings and see what happens?DG
melaniechalk
I make them in Cool Edit, have always saved like this, but will go and check if there is an alternative format. Just downloaded latest PTE as Lin said and still the same.Melanie
Lin Evans
Hi Melanie,I think Dave is probably right - there is a slight difference in the way "Preview" and the completed executable files are processed. It's been discussed and is something Igor is looking into. This plus a possible single one of the multiple mp3's making up your sound track (I'm assuming you made it from multiple audios) having a variable bit rate could cause this issue. Even though you are using the identical audio settings you have used before, if you "sourced" one or more audio tracks rather than created them yourself, it's possible that one of them had a variable bit rate. I've had these kind of issues myself in the past, but have always used Audacity to run "each" audio through and export so that they are all identical in format. This has always corrected the issue. As strange as it may sound, sometimes one faulty audio track can totally disrupt an entire slideshow. The offending audio may play "perfectly" by itself in other players and "may" even play by itself in PTE, but when placed in a show along with other audio selections, it can cause similar difficulties.Best regards,Lin
melaniechalk
Thanks I will look into the soundtrack more, I did bring a sound effect in from another source other than those I had recorded, so that may be causing the problem. I will let you know the outcome. Many thanks for your help.Melanie
davegee
Melanie,There is another way to check it - choose another piece of music of the same length of time and substitute it in a duplicated project for the originals - It doesn't have to be "appropriate" - does it then go out of sync?DG

Many thanks for your help.MelanieSound effects can sometimes be in mono, particulary from Sound Snaps, and/ or WAV files, in my expeience they need to be MP3 & you can convert them to stereo in Audacity..Yachtsman1
melaniechalk
I have taken all the Wav files from Cool Edit and opened them in Audacity. When you look at them all they all read the same Stereo 41100HZ 32 Bit Float, is that what I should be checking.I am not familiar with Audacity, I started out with Cool Edit and know what I am doing there. I have never come across this problem before, having made loads of AV's Let me know if I should check anything else.Melanie
Lin Evans
Hi Melanie,Export them from Audacity at the defaults as mp3's then put them back in your show and I will wager that everything will work perfectly.Melanie, check your email....Best regards,Lin
melaniechalk
I did take all the tracks into Audacity, and export them out, but not 100 % as I couldn't face doing it to my voice as I had chopped it up into lots of bits. I then redid the soundtrack with some MP3 and my voice wavs, retried same problem, but blame my tardiness for that!. So I thought I would try a mix down in Wav format from Cool Edit and although a large file seemed to work OK. So I then tried taking the Cool Edit Wav into Audacity and exporting as MP3 replaced the track on the timeline and created one more time. Watched it with trepidation but success, Alleluia!I wasn't doing things differently to how I have in the past, but did buy a sound effect which may have caused the problem. But thanks to you all for your help in pointing me in the right direction.Melanie
PGA
Hi Melanie,I am very familiar with Audacity but have never used Cool Edit. So what I am about to state might be inaccurate. It is my understanding that Cool Edit sets its project sample rate and project sample format based upon the first sound file added to the empty project. Is it possible that you had sound files with different sample rates and sample formats and on this occasion started off with one that was "not the usual numbers"?regards,PeterP.S. If my understanding is wrong I would welcome being corrected.
