jerome123
Okay... this may have been covered already in previous posts, but this problem is driving me around the bend.I have created a presentation with the newest version of PTE and I want to make it into an .avi file to burn onto a CD ROM.I have followed all of the instructions - click Video, then SCVD disc, making sure it is in NTSC format. I've previewed the file before creating it and it looks great. The pics show and music plays... However, I click Create AVI, and BEFORE clicking finish, I burn the resulting file onto a CD.The file that remains on the CD plays the program I created - BUT WITH NO PICTURES!!!I have music within the slideshow, which plays no problem, but none of my images appear...ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY, VERY APPRECIATED!!! alrobin
Hi, Jerome,Welcome to PTE and to the Forum! The "avi" file produced by PTE is not intended to be used for playback of the slide-show - only as an intermediate step toward creation of a VCD or DVD.However, if your intention is to play the show on a pc monitor, simply choose "Create slideshow as" in the "File" menu. The resulting "exe" file can then be played back on your (or other) pc monitor. If you would like further information on creation of video files for playback on TV, perhaps someone in the "How to create video" forum can help if you post a message there. Best of luck!
jerome123
Thanks for the reply... However, is there a way to create a slideshow (other than a .exe) through PTE that is viewable on a DVD player without the use of a DVD burner? That is what I was trying to create...Thanks again for the reply... and sorry to those who use the forum - I only meant to post my question once, not the three times it appears! Thanks! LumenLux
Welcome Jerome, to the forum.See if I can clear this up a little for you.Yes, you can use your CD burner to burn a PTE show as SVCD - which looks really good now due to Igors great work. But the mechanics of doing the above can be confusing. To make the SVCD, what you burn to the disk is NOT the .Exe file and it is NOT the .avi file. You can NOT simply burn either of those files as a data file to the CD and play them on DVD. You need an encoding process just prior to the actual burn. (You may need to read a while in the Video/AVI section of the this forum to help get the whole process. But when everything works, it is not bad.) The encoding process can be done by one of several programs, mentioned in the other forums section. The important thing is, the reason you have to leave the PTE open (as you are correctly doing), is the encoding program has to run the avi file in PTE and converts it to the files which are burned to CD. Several of the DVD burning programs can work with PTE to do the encoding (for SVCD) and burn in one step without your further intervention. But if you are using Roxio (or other burning program), you must tell it that it needs to make a movie, not just burn a data file. Once you get the concept, you'll be fine. Sometimes these long explanations tend to confuse even more. Give it try, let us know.
