Interpreting the Slide Style Window

In the figure below showing the Slide Styles Window you can see that there are some Slide Durations which will tell you what to expect.

In this case it is telling the user that the style, when applied, will have a Full Slide Duration of 7 seconds.

If it is applied to a slide with a 2 second transition and the following slide is also 2 seconds transition it will result in a slide which has a 2 / 3 / 2 configuration - 7 seconds. Depending on your preferences the Slide Icon will show Transition = 2 and Duration = 5 (or Transition = 2 and Duration = 7).

Regardless of any other settings Styles are calculated in Full Slide Duration - this means both transitions.

Further to the above, by entering your required duration before applying the style you can make it fit your existing project.

However, by doing this the whole of the style (both transition and full slide duration) is adjusted proportionally.

The alternative is to apply the style at its default duration and adjust (if necessary) the individual transition time and full duration afterwards.

In the instance mentioned in the other thread, the cover screen, I was trying it as an alternative to going into O&A & expanding the image with the zoom. With such a simple action as cover screen I wouldn't have expected to have to change times to achieve the same result :blink:/>

Here's an example to try.

I have a slide which is 2 seconds transition and 5 seconds duration which is followed by a slide of the same timings.

The Full Slide Duration of the above example is 7 seconds. Check it out in the Timeline.

I want to apply the Pan Up Style which has an FSD of 12 seconds. Check it out in the Style Window.

Two ways forward:

1. Adjust the time of the Style (before applying it) to 7 seconds FSD. The result of this is that the style will "Play Faster" and the applied transition time will be shorter - 1.167 seconds. Adjust the transition time to 2 seconds.

2. Alternatively, apply the style and get what the author intended - a 12 second FSD style slide with a 2 second transition. The slide duration can then be adjusted to your original 5 seconds duration (7 seconds FSD).
