steven62 Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Hi,I finally joined the ranks of retiring my old 7 year old XP box and wow! what a difference it makes. Specs below: Asus Z87-A Motherboard Intel Core i5 4570 3.2GHz Quad Core 6MB 84W 2 x Kingston DDR3-1600 8GB RAM EVGA Geforce GTX 650 1GB Video Card Intel 335 240GB SATA 6Gb/s 2.5inch SSD hard drive Western Digital Green 2TB SATA 6Gb/s hard drive Asus 24x DVD-RW SATA CD / DVD Rom Atech PRO-35U USB 2.0 Internal/External Card Reader Onboard Sound Silverstone USB 3.0 PCI-Express card controllers Antec P183 V3 (Gunmetal Finish) case Antec TruePower New Series 650W Power Supply Cooler Master Hyper TX3 CPU Cooler Arctic Cooling MX-2 Thermal Compound Upgrade Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OEM SP1 Warranty: Lifetime Labor and Tech Support, 1 Year Parts I decided that I did not want to build this one but have it built and used a company that I knew had an excellent reputation, not only was I able to check what step the computer was in regarding the build process but they went so far as to send me thermographic images that they take while the computer is at idle and under stress. They use the images to reposition the fans if required. They also sent me copies of all the bios screens in case I need to redo the bios in the future. All junk was removed from the drives before sending the computer to me. I don't think I have been happier with a computer store then this one. As a test I opened firefox, thunderbird, photoshop CS5 with 5 large jpeg files loaded as well as 5 raw files from my Pentax K10D 10 megapixel camera, Photoshop Bridge with 12 photos selected, PTE, version 8.1 with an old 125 MB show loaded, Photo Director 12 with 4 reels of 8mm video loaded. I then inserted a thumb drive with PTE-Effects exe double clicked and the computer never even gave an indication that it was under a load.I am really going to enjoy working with PTE. tom95521 Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Looks good. I am still waiting for my Dell XPS 8700 to arrive. If the article below is correct this might be the last Windows PC I will purchase. Seems like Android is taking over all devices including desktop PCs. I have purchased a small Android mini PC for testing (AMP).http://www.amazon.com/MINIX-Quad-Android-Bluetooth-Google/dp/B00EE4LHX2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1389655806&sr=8-2&keywords=minix+x7http://windowsitpro.com/mobile/planning-post-pc-worldTom Quote
