Pierewiet
Hello,I'm new on this forum and I have this question:We have (in our club) a beamer and a 4:3 projection screen. When we beam a 16:9 PTE project, then on screen it takes the full width and only part of the height, but its position is in the vertical middle of the screen, wich is all very logic. We would like to have the PTE-projection on the top of our screen instead of in the vertical middle (leaving the 1/4 lower part of the screen black) .No question of repositioning the beamer or changing his angle or such kind of solution, because in the same session we also need the full 4:3 screen for other projections. Is there a solution to this problem e.g. by using the right settings in "project settings" ?I hope someone has experience to help us.Thanks already. Barry Beckham
From memory my projectors have a setting that allows the user to move the image in relation to the 4:3 screen and I have had to do this at times when the projector loses a white line around the images on one side. So, the setting allows you to shunt the image left, right, up and down, but I am not sure if it gives the amount of movement your looking for. Never needed to try it to be honestCan I ask why you need this options as it may offer members the ability to suggest alternatives
Pierewiet
We have to beam several projects in one session. Most, but not all are PTE.Our own files are PTE-files 16:9, but some are 4:3. Those 4:3 projects need to use the full 4:3 screen. Settings on the beamer are thus thereby defined. When in the same session a 16:9 file is projected, we would like to have it on top of the screen, because in the (rather large) projection room, people back in the hall, always see the heads of people in front. They block parts of the view on the lower part of the screen. No solution therefore when beaming 4:3 projects, but with 16:9 projects it would be better if they where on the upper part of the screen instead of in the middle, so everybody can see the full project.Solution therefore goes probably in the direction of making our projects always 4:3 but with a black bar in the lower 1/4 of the screen. Can we manage this in an easy way by the project settings or otherwise?
Barry Beckham
Well, all I can say is good luck trying, but it sounds a bit odd to me. Surely more of the 4:3 versions will be below peoples heads than a 16:9Raise your screen ?
PGA
I think it would be wrong to modify how the 16x9-ers build their sequences if the only reason is that there are some "dinosaurs" in the club who persist in clinging on to long outdated aspect ratios. How many new TVs for sale do you see with a physical aspect ratio other than 16:9? How many new computer screens (I exclude all forms of tablet and notebooks) do you see for sale with a physical aspect ratio other than 16:9?The aspect ratio 4:3 is the past; 16:9 is the present and the immediate future.Change the projector to a 16:9 one and let the 4:3's fill the middle vertical stripe of the screen. Then you'll see those 16:9 sequences as they were really meant to be seen - high, wide and handsome!regards,Peter

They block parts of the view on the lower part of the screen.I hate to ask, but what about the lower part of the screen with 4:3 images? Isn't it just as hard to see?If I were a 16:9er in your club, I'd be upset at having my images shown in greatly reduced resolution with that steam-powered 4:3 beamer, regardless of where they appeared on the screen.
