I have some limited experience of editing video on Adobe Premier Elements and I was wondering if I should make more use of PTE for this work as I shall also be incorporating a lot of still images in the compilation. I have read the PTE User Notes on this topicbut I am not clear how I get the video from my Sony video camera (using mini DV tape) into a form that can be converted by PTE. Currently I capture it in Premier and it creates AVI video clips which PTE can accept. But I would prefer a simpler route, avoiding Premier if that was possible.

Any suggestions, please.

Hi Ray,

Are you connecting your video camera to your PC using firewire (ieee1394)? I don't use firewire now but when I did I found that scenalyzer (now free) did a great job for importing video to the hard drive. I payed for it when it was a commercial program and it was very reliable and easy to use.

Limited to SD video (not HD).
