Bert Posted February 19, 2015 Report Share Posted February 19, 2015 I have made a slide show in the latest PTE 8.0.12 and published it as an EXE and an MP4.The EXE file looks fine when played. When the MP4 file is played, the colors are over saturated and look to garish. This is the same if I play the MP4 in Windows Media Player or in Windows Media player Classic.I never had this problem before, but this the first time that I made an MP4 in PTE 8.0.12Has anybody else seen this problem with the latest PTE? If possible can maybe somebody make an MP4 from a slide show on there computer with PTE 8.0.12 and compare it to an EXE from the same made show. However colors should not be oversaturated in a video file.Please check color settings for video output in the control panel of your video card (Nvidia Control Panel or AMD Catalyst Panel). Set "Saturation" to zero and turn off all color enhancers ("Auto contrast", "Auto colors" "Super picture", etc).These color settings affect all video players. Surely it shouldn't be necessary to change these settings just to publish an MP4 in PTE, then possibly have to re-set them when watching an MP4 from my camera?Yachtsman1. davegee Posted February 20, 2015 Report Share Posted February 20, 2015 I checked my settings for Video and they were completely flat - 50% Saturation and 180 for Hue.The video was "oversaturated" compared to the EXE.I tried the alternative setting of "use the video player setting" and this made the EXE and Video appear the same.Please note that the settings refered to are purely for "Video" and do not for "Display". In my case they are found in the nVidia Control Panel.I seem to remember that Igor has mentioned this on another occasion and I "thought" that I had addressed it at that time. Though it would probably be wise for a manufacturer of software to be consistent in their defaults from iteration to iteration, sometimes they are not and at times questions or check boxes are presented during installation and the final result may depend on the response of the person conducting the installation. I haven't updated my nVidia drivers since I installed my latest GTX 750 Ti card because each driver update in the past year has only been related to features I can't access with my XT OS. On my development system which I maintain as more or less the "least common denominator" I see absolutely zero apparent differences between generated MP4's and executable colors. On my rather powerful display system which runs Win 8.1 with a near top-end nVidia video card and maximum possible resources, the situation is identical except my display itself (a 30" 2560x1600 LCD) oversaturates everything by default. Even with this, there is no perceptible difference between the generated MP4 and generated exe in saturation or hue. These issues, I believe, have nothing to do with PTE's generated code but are entirely the result of differences in the GPU settings applied to video. Only Igor can say but my take is that PTE from iteration to iteration is consistent. There has been some experimentation with possibly initiating colorspace awareness but this has not been realized in the present code AFAIK... In PTE 8.0.12 I made a MP4 of an old show, where I hade made already a MP4 from some time ago in PTE 8.0.8. The MP4 looked the same as the older MP4,not over saturated. So the problem seems only with this particular show. I have made the same screenshot of different files. No.5 Screenshot of original page without added text. The color problem seems mainly with the pages of the Tatty Album that I used in this show, when I made an MP4, but not an EXE file of this show. The Tatty Album I used in this show was provided by "Trailertrash" in 2010, but I checked the pages and they are in the sRGB color space. Any suggestion? Bert Posted February 21, 2015 Author Report Share Posted February 21, 2015 Lin, Igor,When I look to change the setting in my AMD video card, there are so many tabs and settings (non of the ones Igor mentions) that for me, it is not really an option. (As Yachtsman mentions, I don't know where to start. I still wonder why the MP4s, I made a couple of months ago look the same as the EXEs I made then of those same shows.I have not changed any setting nor have I updated anything related to video. The only updates, have to do with Windows 7. I can see by adjusting the color of my monitor, that it is manly the Red channel, what gives the wrong color in the MP4.
