Editing marks on music trak

I have "lost" the editing marks on the music tracks, i.e. the fade pointer and the red center line in the track is missing. Can't see what I did or how to correct.

I have been asked this question a dozen times and each time I wonder why the off switch is In a place where it can be accidentally turned off
