Guest guru
I just began to work with my new machine (not yet finished). Nothing exceptional, but the main disks are two mirrored 80GB S-Ata (Raid 1), with two other HDDs for less important data and temporary sound and video files. CPU Amd 2500 Barton, Ram 1024 MB 400 MHz. But the more expensive piece is the cabinet (!), a wonderful Yeong Yang YY-0221 "Cube" server model.Well, I'n not here to describe my machine, but to ask you some idea about a very strange problem I have now. I can no more reach the PTE forum! If I try to connect to http://www.picturestoexe.com, I get time-out messages like "Impossible to find the server" etc. One or two times I reached the white page with the link to forum (/forums/index.php), but it's all.No problem, on the contrary, for Wnsoft site (and all the others american and european sites). What is the most odd thing is the fact that I cannot open PTE forum also with my good old Pentium II machine that I used for many years, and still works very well. But here in the Academy where I work I open normally this site, with old machines and a main configuration not so different from mine. And the ISP too is the same, Fastweb, optical cable, average speed 400-600 KB (bytes, not bits) per second! What can be the reason of this trouble? Someone has an idea? I verified several times the configuration of my browsers (Explorer 6.1 and Opera 7.50) protections, I disabled Zone Alarm, but nothing to do.Could you help me? Thank you very much! boxig
Hi Guido,1) Try the free Netscape Navigator.2) Delete internet temporary files. Sometimes a corrupted file is the reason.3) Disable all protections (norton, firewall, IE internet security etc) for try.4) Allow to accept all cookies for try.5) Check your HOSTS file to see if that page have been blocked !!!http://accs-net.com/hosts/what_is_hosts.htmlhttp://win98private.net/hosts_file.htmhttp://www.net-hosting.info/dir/windows_ho...ile/index.shtmlhttp://www.jhsoft.com/help/df_hostsfile.htmhttp://homepage.ntlworld.com/alan.smith25/pchosts.htmGood luckGranot
alrobin
Guido,The solution to your problem is very simple. Use FORUM, not OLD FORUM .
LumenLux
Â Use FORUM, not OLD FORUM . Â Â Â But Al, doesn't it seem natural that Guido should use old forum?
alrobin
Maybe that's why they left the old address active!?
mhwarner
I had some problems a while back (when I was trying to clean up my security act). Not sure if this is related, but you could try (if using IE) to go to Tools\Internet Options, then click on the "Privacy" tab. Then click on the "Edit" button. There you should see a list of web sites and whether they allow or block cookies. If picturestoexe.com is not in the list, you can add it and click to "Allow Cookies". This may not be your problem at all, but I hope it helps.
Merlin
Hello,First, I would check to see if it is possible for a network connection.Go to DOS (usually a 'command prompt') and use ping.ping www.picturestoexe.comyou should get a reply confirming the connection. If you do, it's in your software, if not, it's a notwork issue.Merlin
alrobin
"Picturestoexe.com" is no longer in use. The correct address now is "http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums".
Guest guru
Many thanks, my friends. It's the first time I read your posts in this topic, because at home I can not yet connect to forum. Now I am at work, and I reach very fast either picturestoexe.com and picturestoexe.com/forums//index.php. Remark that the ISP is the same and I am near 200 meters (6-700 feet) away from my home.I already tried all what you advised: allowed cookies, removed all IE6 protections, shut down antivirus and Zone Alarm, deleted all Internet temporary files (with Jv16 and Easy Cleaner). I made of course "Ping" and "Tracert" from Dos command prompt: ping sends 4 data packs and gets none; tracert reaches the 18th hop and then (already in a US server) locks (timeout) till the 30th.I called my ISP and all (obviously, since here I can connect) is right; Igor asked PTE forum host, and all seems normal. At this point, I can see only one explication: PTE forum server locks my IP address. I told it Igor, and we are waiting for an answer.I'll send a post here when - I hope very soon - this odd problem will be solved. Thanks again to all!
