Keyframe section duration ?

When I open the first slide in O&A, the keyframe section shows a duration of 9 seconds.

Could someone please explain how that is figured ?

Also, what does the "AB" on the transition icon stand for ?

The nine that you saw was the Full Slide Duration.

After adding the second slide 4 seconds of slide 1 overlaps slide 2 during its Transition Duration.

5+4=9

AB is the button which allows you to select the Transition Type.
