davegee Posted March 24, 2019 Report Posted March 24, 2019 After a recent Windows Update (?) my Laptop with nVidia Graphics Card and Integrated Intel "APPEARS" to back to normal. At one stage the Laptop refused to acknowledge that the nVidia Card existed. I can now access the nVidia Control Panel and performance seems to be back to normal. Testing continues. nelson Posted March 24, 2019 Report Posted March 24, 2019 Interesting Dave. I look forward to your final assessment. Thanks, Kieron Quote
davegee Posted March 24, 2019 Author Report Posted March 24, 2019 Nothing final about this, but....... In the nVidia Control Panel there is an option to show "nVidia GPU Activity". This adds an Icon on the Task Bar (Notifications). When I open the "nVidia GPU Activity" it shows that Photoshop, PTE 9 and Chrome are all using the nVidia Card. I have set the option Preferred Graphics Processor = High Performance NVIDIA Processor..... ....and added PS CC, PTE and others to the list of apps which should default to NVIDIA. The reason that I went looking for this is that I noticed, today, an improvement in the performance of the Laptop. I cannot say when it returned to "normal" because I have not been using the Laptop much since the problem arrived. Welcome back NVIDIA!! DG Quote
davegee Posted March 26, 2019 Author Report Posted March 26, 2019 After further testing in line with Igor's suggestion in the main thread on this topic, it appears that even though I can now SEE the NVIDIA card again, the performance has not returned with the re-appearance of the card. DG Quote
