Steve,

Ulead DVD Movie Factory 3 and several other programs will allow you to write a file to either/or. As a rule I will burn an image to the hard drive at the same time I burn the DVD.

welcome to the forum

the vid file that pte creates is a temp file

I used to use tmpgenc to take that temporary vid file and convert it to permanent mpeg files then when i had enough to make a show import those mpeg's into nero or roxio dvd makers

http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html

if you do a search of the forum for tmpgenc you will find many threads

i changed my system so now i bypass the tmpgenc step -- but i would still use it if needed
