How to add a blank slide behind text

I would like to add a blank,black slide at approx. 25% opacity behind this text. Is it possible or would I be better to choose another background.

The background shows how the Moche culture built their pyramids to withstand earthquakes hence this particular JPG.

In this case, Rosemary, you would right click in Objects and Animations then add a "rectangle".  Choose the color and either solid or gradient then move it behind the text and in front of the wall and adjust the opacity as desired. You could also just choose the brick layer and adjust the "opacity" of it. 

My assumption is that you're trying to make the text more readable. You could try different colors or even choose the color of the bricks for your rectangle.

Thanks Lin.  I like your idea of choosing the brick colour for the rectangle. I am going to give it a try.

Lin, your advice works beautifully. I had got as far as adding the rectangle but couldn't work out how to change the colour! I used the brick colour with an opacity of 50% and changed the text colour to black.
