Gloria h Posted April 12, 2020 Report Posted April 12, 2020 How can I scan 35 mm 3” glass slides to digital images. The slides are too big to slide into the portable scanner I have. The image on the slide fills the entire slide. I have 2 1/2 “ glass slides and 3” cardboard slides. Quote
Lin Evans Posted April 12, 2020 Report Posted April 12, 2020 It's difficult to know whether normal devices will or will not do this. Essentially, you need a way to hold these slides a fixed distance from your camera lens and parallel so you can photograph them then use standard slide to jpg software to convert. Check the video below for some suggestions. Watch the Video linked below: Lin Quote
Barry Beckham Posted April 12, 2020 Report Posted April 12, 2020 How about making a cardboard holder for the slides and placing that on the face of a flat screen monitor with white as a background. Set up a HR camera on a tripod with cable release and take a few tests, when you have it right. Shoot a slide, change it, shoot the next and so on Quote
JudyKay Posted April 14, 2020 Report Posted April 14, 2020 I have a friend who is scanning hundreds of priceless old Asian slides. He uses a camera on a tripod and a hand-made black cardboard frame in a box taped to his window. I told him he was crazy and all the reasons why (imperfections in the glass window, clouds, color, bird flying by). He showed me the images. Stunning. His setup was free. His worry was that neighbors would think he was operating a spy device. Quote
