Rosemary A Posted April 21, 2020 Report Posted April 21, 2020 Hi, I am trying to follow Barry Becham's tutorial about Masks. My problem arises when I try to adjust the mask. It is supposed to just cover the text. I have broken the synchronization chain but the mask still moves as if the chain wasn't broken. What am I doing wrong or what am I missing? Thanks, Rosemary Rosemary Quote
Barry Beckham Posted April 21, 2020 Report Posted April 21, 2020 The idea is that you need to position your text where you want it to appear. In this image, maybe where the water meets the land, or even above the mountains. Then adjust the mask so the text drops out behind the mask, or disappears into the mask. Quote
Rosemary A Posted April 21, 2020 Author Report Posted April 21, 2020 Thanks Barry firstly for all the excellent tutorials. I have learned a lot from them. My problem is that when I try to adjust the mask over the text, the mask decreases in size symmetrically even though I have "broken" the chain. Do you have any suggestions as I have encountered this problem before? Thank you Rosemary Quote
wideangle Posted April 21, 2020 Report Posted April 21, 2020 Rosemary Try this. Hold the Shift key down when you adjust the mask rectangle and use the mask handles that are in the middle of the sides of the bounding box of the mask. Regards wideangle Quote
Barry Beckham Posted April 21, 2020 Report Posted April 21, 2020 If you have broken the chain, then it should not change size overall, but try Wideangle’s suggestion. I use that shift key method most of the time, but I try not to include too many keyboard shortcuts into a video. Try it and see, but it should be the same as breaking the width and height chain. Rosemary A Posted April 21, 2020 Author Report Posted April 21, 2020 Thank you Barry and Wideangle. Holding the shift key worked a charm. I think what I shall do is reinstall PTE and see if that fixes the problem of the synchronization chain. Rosemary Quote
